Kansas City Chiefs Preseason Schedule
Aug. 12-16 at Atlanta
Aug. 19-23 at Tampa Bay
Aug. 26-29 Philadelphia
Sept. 2-3 Green Bay
2010 Regular Season Opponents
Mon, Sept. 13 SAN DIEGO – In the Chargers, the rabid fans at Arrowhead get a marquee opponent right off the hop.
Sun, Sept. 19 @ Cleveland – The potentially dynamic trio of QB Matt Cassel, RB Jamaal Charles and veteran WR Chris Chambers – with just a pinch of jitterbug rookie Dexter McCluster thrown in – will have room to operate on the road against the Browns.
Sun, Sept. 26 SAN FRANCISCO – If prodigiously talented rookie DB Eric Berry doesn’t have an interception by Week 3, he’ll probably get one in this game.
Sun, Oct. 3 BYE
Sun, Oct. 10 @ Indianapolis – The Colts had KC’s number back when Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson were in the backfield for the Chiefs; the sands of time haven’t changed much.
Sun, Oct. 17 @ Houston – Back-to-back tricky AFC South draws here, Chiefs fans. If you were having sweaty nightmares about Peyton Manning’s slick operation, you don’t get much breathing room the following week with Matt Schaub and Co.
Sun, Oct. 24 JACKSONVILLE – An eminently more beatable AFC South team, especially at home and especially if you load LB Derrick Johnson, S Jarrad Page et al. in the box to stop elite RB Maurice Jones-Drew.
Sun, Oct. 31 BUFFALO – Looks like even the Chiefs will get time to focus on filling their collective pillowcases with candy.
Sun, Nov. 7 @ Oakland – For the pecking order to be how it ought to be in the division, KC must top the Raiders in the Bay Area weirdo nest.
Sun, Nov. 14 @ Denver – This’ll be a nail-biter. The Broncos always bring a tough game at Mile High; their players often aren’t the top names but their system is very sound.
Sun, Nov. 21 ARIZONA – As long as Cassel stays upright and is crisp with his downfield strikes, the Chiefs can (dare I say should?) win this game.
Sun, Nov. 28 @ Seattle – Make sure you have a defensive back with really good wheels (Berry perhaps) to cover explosive former Golden Domer, WR Golden Tate.
Sun, Dec. 5 DENVER – When you’re not sucking wind at altitude and you have the 12th Man of Arrowhead Stadium, you’re looking at a couple things breaking your way as a Chief.
Sun, Dec. 12 @ San Diego – The Bolts won’t miss franchise legend LaDainian Tomlinson from a production standpoint and it must be said (albeit grudgingly) that childish QB Philip Rivers is underrated. If KC wins this game, it’ll make 2010.
Sun, Dec. 19 @ St. Louis – The Greatest Show on Turf is happening somewhere in Missouri, likely on a golf course with a fairway mower.
Sun, Dec. 26 TENNESSEE – Unless it’s the yard sale the sprawling Chiefs defenders will be executing, covering NFL rushing leader Chris Johnson is not what I’d call a Boxing Day Sale.
Sun, Jan. 2 OAKLAND – A fantastic opportunity for the Chiefs to finish the season off well and see how they shook down in the AFC West – though it would be a miracle if anyone other than San Diego was in first.
