Here we go with the Chicago Bears.
Chicago Bears Preseason Schedule
Aug. 12-16 at San Diego
Aug. 19-23 Oakland
Aug. 26-29 Arizona
Sept. 2-3 at Cleveland
2010 Regular Season Opponents
Sun, Sept. 12 DETROIT – If QB Jay Cutler can stay within himself and get the ball to an underrated corps of wideouts, this is a great opportunity for the Bears to have a head of steam right from the get-go.
Sun, Sept. 19 @ Dallas – The shine is off the apple in a hurry in 2010; apparently Bears S Danieal Manning is adjusting to his new position. He better hope he gets there.
Mon, Sept. 27 GREEN BAY – Get some artery-cloggin’ cheese curds and deep dish pizza: it doesn’t get more Midwest than this.
Sun, Oct. 3 @ New York Giants – Both of these teams have a lot to prove in their respective conferences. It should translate to a really entertaining showdown.
Sun, Oct. 10 @ Carolina – See above.
Sun, Oct. 17 SEATTLE – Illinois fans surely remember the USC Trojans stomping their Illini in the Rose Bowl a couple years back; they’d surely love to wipe the smirk off the face of Seattle’s new coach (and ex-Trojans legend) Pete Carroll.
Sun, Oct. 24 WASHINGTON – Redskins pivot Donovan McNabb is no stranger to Soldier Field; Chicago has to show him he’s no more welcome in crimson than he was in green.
Sun, Oct. 31 BYE – In addition to rest and study, the Bears should ensure their passports are valid.
Sun, Nov. 7 @ Buffalo (in Toronto) – Chicago can win this on foreign soil, and it really should if it wants to vie for the division crown, with so many other challenges on the slate.
Sun, Nov. 14 MINNESOTA – Surely a defining home game of the Bears’ season. A great match-up of power runners – Minny’s Adrian Peterson vs. Chicago’s Matt Forte.
Thurs, Nov. 18 @ Miami – A tricky road game to play on short rest as Chicago will have used every bullet in the chamber against rival Minnesota.
Sun, Nov. 28 PHILADELPHIA – Will new DE Julius Peppers be awake (and therefore a terror) or asleep (and therefore invisible)? It could go far in determining Chicago’s chances.
Sun, Dec. 5 @ Detroit – No Tigers, but will Lions and Bears give us an ‘Oh my!’?
Sun, Dec. 12 NEW ENGLAND – Facing Pats QB Tom Brady at any time, in any clime is worth splashing some cold water on your face.
Mon, Dec. 20 @ Minnesota – The Bears hope to be playing something other than spoiler in this late-season contest.
Sun, Dec 26 NEW YORK JETS – Proud veteran MLB Brian Urlacher will rack up the tackles in this one, you can bet your boots.
Sun, Jan. 2 @ Green Bay – Rookies that get drafted from schools like USC and Miami must shudder when they think of playing in games like these. Regardless, this is what football is all about.
Sun, Nov. 7 ARIZONA – If cornerbacks Antoine Winfield and Cedric Griffin can limit the electric Steve Breaston and the all-everything Larry Fitzgerald, the Vikes should be OK.
Sun, Nov. 14 @ Chicago – The Land of Lincoln is going to be a Land of Drinkin’ if the Vikes roll into town and hand the home side a beating.
Sun, Nov. 21 GREEN BAY – Every time Favre (assumedly, this season) plays his former longtime employer, it’s worth setting aside a few hours to watch.
Sun, Nov. 28 @ Washington – The addition of McNabb makes the Redskins more dangerous, but this is a game where Minny can speed up or slow down the tempo at will.
Sun, Dec. 5 BUFFALO – One shouldn’t ‘BILL-ieve’ that Buffalo has a hope in this one.
Sun, Dec. 12 NEW YORK GIANTS – Our Norse friends get two bites of the Big Apple in 2010; the downside to this is that both New York teams present a real test.
Mon, Dec. 20 CHICAGO – If the Bears play slightly above their head this season, this game will have a divisional implications and be a worthy Monday-nighter.
Sun, Dec 26 @ Philadelphia – Eagles QB Kevin Kolb plans to stretch the Vikes’ D in every direction; the D-line will have to be in Kolb’s kitchen to ensure that doesn’t happen.
Sun, Jan. 2 @ Detroit – Will the Bears be resting starters at this point? Maybe.
