Here we go with the Carolina Panthers.

Carolina Panthers Preseason Schedule

Aug. 12 at Baltimore
Aug. 19-23 N.Y. Jets
Aug. 26-29 Tennessee
Sept. 2-3 at Pittsburgh

2010 Regular Season Opponents

Sun, Sept. 12 @ New York Giants – Jimmy Clausen’s first NFL game will be humbling in the Giants’ sparkling new stadium. Yet more pressing: Will key WR Steve Smith (broken arm) be 100%?

Sun, Sept. 19 TAMPA BAY – A nice, early divisional statement for the post Delhomme-era Panthers versus a beatable Buccaneers squad.

Sun, Sept. 26 CINCINNATI – Chad Ochocinco vs. Smith is still a marquee wide-out exhibit, provided both are fully healthy by this point. Don’t underrate the running games on these teams, either.

Sun, Oct. 3 @ New Orleans – Carolina will be a clear underdog in this one. To stand a good chance of beating the reigning champs in their house, the Panthers will have to hit them in the mouth with a nasty offensive line and a running game.

Sun, Oct. 10 CHICAGO – Two teams that like to run the ball and lean on aggressive defense. Old fashioned football, baby.

Sun, Oct. 17 BYE

Sun, Oct. 24 SAN FRANCISCO – Tobacco Road QB Matt Moore has been getting it done adequately,  but let’s hope rookie Clausen doesn’t take as long to metamorphose as Niners pivot Alex Smith. My Sportsbook

Sun, Oct. 31 @ St. Louis – Top pick Sam Bradford won’t re-make the Rams as the Greatest Show on Turf overnight. Carolina should nab this one.

Sun, Nov. 7 NEW ORLEANS – Well, better to have ’em at Bank of America Stadium rather than the Superdome. Finding the silver lining? Maybe…

Sun, Nov. 14 @ Tampa Bay – One nice thing about playing in the NFC South is that you never have to endure truly crappy weather.

Sun, Nov. 21 BALTIMORE – Young quarterbacks and young stud tailbacks are the theme in this game. However, Ravens QB Joe Flacco is better than anyone Carolina can put on the field at that position.

Sun, Nov. 28 @ Cleveland – This match-up captivated audiences… before the Baltimore Ravens re-located and the Panthers had Kevin Greene.

Sun, Dec. 5 @ Seattle – As the Panthers travel much further west on their road trip, its offensive players will have to keep their heads up with so many great young linebackers lurking in the Puget Sound mist.

Sun, Dec. 12 ATLANTA – Carolina comes home for a grave divisional test against the Dirty Birds. The Panthers and Falcons will likely be scrapping to play second fiddle to the Saints in the division and the wars are won right here.

Sun, Dec. 19 ARIZONA – If you’re a Panthers wide receiver, getting popped by Cards safety Adrian Wilson is not what I’d call a Christmas present.

Thurs, Dec. 23 @ Pittsburgh – The one non-Sunday game Carolina plays all season – on short rest, of course – is against the Steelers in gusty Heinz Field… right before the holidays. Life’s a bitch sometimes.

Sun, Jan. 2 @ Atlanta – If Falcons RB Michael Turner is healthy and not excessively over-used, look for a volcanic Atlanta offense at home.
