The Wolf  Pack used a late rally to edge out the Falcons, coming back from a 12-point deficit in the final six minutes of the fourth quarter on their way to rolling up 600 yards of offense.

Led by quarterback Cody Fajardo who threw for a career-high 389 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 81 yards and two more scores, Nevada looked sharp for its second game in a row after beating Hawaii just one week earlier.

On the other end of those passing yards were Aaron Bradley and Brandon Wimberly who combined for 269 yards on 26 receptions.

Defensively, the Wolf Pack looked questionable as the Falcons piled up 375 yards on the ground — nearly 7 1/2 yards per carry.

Meanwhile, the Aztecs notched their first win of the season after rallying past New Mexico State 26-16 on the road their last time out. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

San Diego dominated the game with a 436-268 advantage in total yards but still struggled to get on the board early in the game.

The SDSU offense was paced by Donnel Pumphrey who rushed for a career-high 167 yards and three touchdowns, on an average of 8.8 yards a carry.

The difference in the game was that New Mexico State had absolutely no running threat — something that the Aztecs will have to contend with when they host Nevada, which is averaging 408 yards per game, including 182 yards rushing.

Matt’s Prediction

Neither one of these teams has been dominating their opponents this season and barely squeaked out a win last time they played.

San Diego State is 0-2 at home this season, while the Wolf Pack is 0-2 while on the road this season, 2-0 against conference opponents and 1-2 against non-conference opponents.

On the road, the Wolf Pack is averaging 13.5 scoring, and holding teams to 60.0 points scored on defense.

I think San Diego State is the better team all around, but with less than a touchdown spread, I have to take Nevada here.

San Diego State 31, Nevada 28
