College Football odds:
Rutgers Scarlet Knights -10
Army Black Knights +10
O/U 40
Rutgers is 4-2 this season and is coming from a loss of 24-17 at home against Pittsburgh. Army is currently 3-4 and arrives to this game after a 27-13 loss at Temple.
All college football betting fans must keep an eye on the matchup between Army’s rushing offense lead by QB Trent Steelman and the Rutgers defense, currently second against the rush in the Big East conference.
Steelman averages 3.5 yards per attempt with 3 TD on the ground this season and with the addition of RB Patrick Mealy who averages 6.9 yards per carries they are the 12th rank team in rushing yards in the nation.
Nevertheless it won’t be that easy for Army to run the ball this Friday. The Knights only allows 91.5 yards per game on the ground and their defensive line can’t shutdown Steelman.
On the other side of the ball Rutgers is more of a balanced offense; they can throw the ball downfield while running it.
QB Tom Savage is the kinds of QB who manage a game more than win it. He averages a TD per game and only had turned the ball over once. WR Tim Brown is definitely his go to guy as he has 548 receiving yards with 3 TD this season, expect big throws to Brown’s direction.
Some trends to keep an eye on:
Army is 1-5 ATS in its last 6 games
The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Army’s last 5 games
Army is 1-5 ATS in its last 6 games at home
Rutgers is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games on the road
The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Rutgers’s last 6 games on the road
Rutgers is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games when playing Army
My pick: Rutgers won’t cover the spread. Under.
One reply on “Week 8: Scarlet Knights vs. Black Knights Preview/Pick”
Went 10-4-1 with BETUS after last weekends tumultuous contests making me 21-8-1 for the two week span. Ohio State and Northern Illinois were by far the biggest disappointments NOBODY saw coming! This week offers some interesting matchups that seemed to have slipped through the cracks on some of the “experts” blogs. Look for Northern Illinois to redeem themselves with a blowout win @ Miami (OH) and Ohio State to continue their struggles by keeping Pryor at QB vs. the Gophers.
