Oklahoma St. vs. Missouri Preview/Pick

The Oklahoma State Cowboys go at it against the University of Missouri Tigers this weekend in a big 12 matchup. We preview and pick this week 7 clash.

NCAA Football Betting – Oklahoma State Cowboys at Missouri Tigers

The Oklahoma State Cowboys (5-0 SU, 4-0 ATS) have been rolling along with one of the best offenses in college football. On Saturday they will face their biggest test, on both sides of the ball, when they face off against the Missouri Tigers (5-0 SU, 3-1 ATS) in NCAA college football action in the Big 12 conference, slated to kick off at 8 PM ET at Memorial Stadium (artificial turf) in Columbia, MO.

Saturday, October 11

BetUS NCAA Betting Odds: MISSOURI -14, Total 77.5
Here are some of the NCAA college football betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

* OSU has won its last six games SU
* OSU has covered its last five games
* OSU has lost 12 of its last 18 road games SU
* OSU has played four of its last five road games UNDER the total
* MIZZ has won its last eleven home games SU

Also….

* MIZZ has won and covered five of the last six meetings

Things have been looking great for Oklahoma State. The Cowboys are sixth in the country in total offense. Kendall Hunter is fifth in the nation in rushing and is averaging seven yards a carry. Quarterback Zac Robinson is third in passing efficiency, completing 72% of his passes and leading everyone with twelve yards an attempt. The special teams ranks first in punt returns. The offensive line has allowed only two sacks. The defense has yielded “only” 23 points per game, which is more than good enough when you can do all of these other things well. Of course, they haven’t gotten enough respect from the poll voters, as they are 17th in both the coaches’ and AP rankings, but there is the chance to make a quantum leap this week.

It’s a big hurdle.

You see, Missouri is a little better in most of the above categories, and while its schedule has admittedly not been back-breaking, it has included Top 25-caliber Illinois as well as up-and-coming programs in Nevada, Buffalo and Nebraska, all of which were brushed aside without too much trouble. Chase Daniel (76%, 15 TD, one INT) probably stands as the Heisman Trophy front-runner, and he has to rate the edge over Robinson at quarterback. With the electrifying Jeremy Maclin and the steady Chase Coffman (33 catches), Daniel has long and short-range options that rival anything int he nation. And the Tigers are doing a damn good job defending the run (2.7 ypc), which will force Robinson to the air a little more.

Missouri won’t be overwhelmed in facing Robinson either, not after encountering capable passers like Juice Williams, Joe Ganz, Colin Kaepernick and Drew Willy already. But we’re not altogether convinced OSU is in a position to deal with the arsenal Mizzou has to throw at it. We’ll lay the points with the home-standing Tigers, the 14-point favorite in the BetUS NCAA college football betting odds.
