NCAA football Week 5 Wagering – Tennessee Volunteers vs. Auburn Tigers

Online sports betting enthusiasts will have an exciting sports wagering opportunity this weekend on BetUS as the Tennessee Volunteers visit the Auburn Tigers. As Week 5 opens in the NCAA football betting season, the conference battles start to pop up in the schedule, and the true BCS championship contenders show their faces.

The SEC appears to be the best conference in football, and two of its perennial contenders are stepping up to the plate this week. Both teams are looking to rebound after tough losses last week—albeit tough in different ways.

Tennessee was absolutely crushed by Florida on home turf last week—an embarrassing 30-6 loss in a highly-anticipated game. Online sports betting enthusiasts were very disappointed, as the Vols were at least expected to cover a 14-point NCAA football spread. But that was not to be, as quarterback Jonathan Crompton looked rattled all-game long, throwing up errant passes when he went deep, and opting for ill-advised screen passes more often than not.

The absence of a run game in the Volunteers offense surely makes Crompton’s life difficult in the pocket, and it won’t get any easier this week. Auburn’s rush defense isn’t too hot, but who cares? Tennessee is absolutely unable to run the ball—as seen in their one red zone rushing attempt against Florida, which resulted in a fumble.

The Tigers surrendered a lead late and fell to their arch-rival LSU at home, but many positives can be taken from the game—unlike Tennessee-Florida. Quarterback Chris Todd struggled a bit with clock management, which allowed for LSU’s late, game-winning drive.   However, Todd is still one of the premiere pivots in the conference, and is primed for a big day against the reeling Vols. Recently, he’s developed great chemistry with receiver Rod Smith, who has put up big numbers the past two weeks, and should once again.

Here are some NCAA football betting trends to consider:

Tennessee is 2-5 straight-up in its last 7 road games
Tennessee is 2-4-1 against the spread in its last 7 road games
Auburn is 7-1 straight-up in its last 8 home games
Auburn is 5-1 straight-up in its last 6 games overall

The Play:

Tennessee has to be deflated after last week—how could they not be? Auburn still has BCS series hopes, and can still contend for the Conference title. The Tigers’ secondary should wipe out the Vols’ receivers in this one, forcing them to rely on their poor running game.

The writing is on the wall—take Auburn plus the points.
