NCAAF: TIGERS SET FOR SEC MATCHUP

Sixth-ranked LSU is a field goal favorite at #10 Auburn in a battle of the Tigers on Saturday night.

The huge SEC matchup caps a big weekend of college football betting and you can catch all of the Week 4 action at Sportsbook.com. Click here for the early lines, and see the best variety of game and future odds available anywhere.

LSU is the defending national champs, but they are barely mentioned as possible repeat finishers. LSU has a question at quarterback with both Andrew Hatch and Jarrett Lee sharing the position.

Neither has been needed much in wins over Appalachian State and North Texas but a running game alone may not be good enough against Auburn. Auburn has won the last four meetings at home between these teams, going 3-0-1 against the spread. The Under is also 7-1 in the last eight meetings.

Auburn is 3-0 on the young season, but they are coming off a slim 3-2 win at Mississippi State. That might be enough offense for an MLB contest, but this is football we are talking about.

Junior quarterback Chris Todd went all the way against Mississippi State, but you can expect to see sophomore Kodi Burns if the offense continues to struggle.

The winner of this game will have a good leg up in the SEC West division and should be mentioned in the same breath as Florida and Georgia, the two SEC teams that are getting most of the national press.

Georgia earned a hard-fought win over Steve Spurrier and South Carolina last week, winning 14-7. Now, they have to travel all the way across the country to face an offensive minded Arizona State squad this week.

The #3 ranked Bulldogs are 6 ½-point favorites in that game, but Arizona State has had this game circled on their calendar for quite some time and they will be ready for the nationally televised contest on ABC.

Sun Devils coach Dennis Erickson is a two-time national champion with the Miami Hurricanes, and also had a couple of head coaching stints with NFL teams. Arizona State is coming off a stunning home loss to UNLV as they may have been looking ahead to Georiga, but Erickson will have his team ready to play and believing in an upset.

Florida is ranked 4th in the country and they have a tough road game of their own at Tennessee. The Gators are 7 ½-point favorites but Neyland Stadium is a tough place to play your first road game of the year.

Notre Dame has opened the season with home wins over San Diego State and Michigan but the oddsmakers are not too impressed with the level of competition and the Irish are hefty nine-point dogs at Michigan State.

Finally, don’t forget about the Thursday night game as # 21 West Virginia tries to rebound from a loss at East Carolina two weeks ago. The Mountaineers are another team racking up the frequent flyer miles this week and are only 2 ½-point chalk at a dangerous Colorado squad.
