BetUS NCAA College Football Betting Lines: OKLAHOMA STATE -15, Total 67.5

Here are some of the NCAA college football betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

HOU has won five of its last six games SU
HOU has covered one of its last eight road games
HOU has lost five of its last seven road games SU
HOU has played four of its last six road games OVER the total
OSU has covered one of its last five games
OSU has won 11 of its last 15 games SU
OSU has played six of its last nine games UNDER the total
OSU has covered five of its last seven home games
OSU has won eight of its last ten home games SU

The Oklahoma State Cowboys scored what many think was their most important non-conference victory in years last week when they beat Georgia by two touchdowns and just as importantly won in the college football betting lines. The offensive output admittedly was not overwhelming, with Zac Robinson throwing for just 135 yards on 11 completions, but the OSU defense came up big, holding Georgia to just 257 total yards.

It goes without saying that Houston’s stop unit is a lot more permissive than what Georgia has, as the Cougars allowed five different teams to throw for more than 300 yards last season, and surrendered whopping totals like 56 points in last year’s game against Oklahoma State, when they were getting 15.5 points and lost on the college football betting lines. There should be room for Robinson and wide receiver Dez Bryant to operate. That’s a given.

However, let’s not discount Houston’s ability to move the ball as well, and we don’t have to reference the 538 yards and 55 points against FCS entry Northwestern State in the opener (which was not covered by college football betting lines) to know that. Case Keenum is one of the more capable quarterbacks in the country, throwing for over 5000 yards with 44 touchdown passes in the 2008 season. What’s more, save for WR Mark Hafner, the team brought back every rushing and receiving contributor from a year ago, so this offensive unit is not only deep and productive, but also experienced and cohesive.

Houston also comes into the season with a bowl victory under its belt, as it defeated Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl – a six-point victory that covered the college football betting lines by a half-point. No one is going to doubt that Kendall Hunter, for example, should wind up with a lot more than the 75 rushing yards he gained in last week’s game, but no one should underestimate what Keenum, who threw for 387 yards and four TD’s without an interception in last year’s encounter, can produce. The back door could be wide open for the Cougars.

Consider the emotions surrounding last week’s OSU win, when the stadium was re-dedicated by benefactor T. Boone Pickens. This could be “letdown” time, and maybe the Cowboys are content to do whatever they have to in order to get out of this with a win.

In the BetUS college football betting lines, we’ll take the Houston Cougars and the 15 points.
