Ty Willingham is really a decent sort of guy; it’s a shame that he has gone down in flames like this. But his Huskies have gone without a win, unable even to beat Washington State two weeks ago, and have not covered a game in their last nine. Washington suffered that heart-breaking loss to BYU in the season’s second week, and while that didn’t exactly set the tone for the season, it did demonstrate that Willingham’s team was ready, willing and able to some up with new and creative ways to lose games. The loss of quarterback Jake Locker didn’t help matters either, though to be fair, he had only completed 54% of his passes. Ronnie Fouch, who stepped in for him, is only 45% accurate, and could manage only 99 yards through the air in the Washington State loss.

The Huskies have totaled only 56 points in their last five games, and rank 100th or lower in rushing, total offense, scoring, rushing defense, pass efficiency defense, total defense, scoring defense, sacks, sacks allowed, net punting, punt returns and kickoff returns. For good measure, they are also -13 in turnover margin.

Cal has beaten Michigan State, Arizona State and Oregon at home. The Bears are, in fact, a perfect 6-0, both straight-up and against the number, in Berkeley this season. Cal is one of the best teams in the country in getting to the passer, chalking up 30 sacks this season. Jahvid Best is a red-hot back, having gained 116 yards against Oregon State and 201 against Stanford in the last two games.

Last year’s game was particularly stinging for Cal, as the Bears lost 37-23 in a game where Locker didn’t even play, but where the Huskies benefited form three Cal turnovers. Here comes the revenge, and this is one opponent who isn’t in any position whatsoever to do anything about it. If U-Dub was going to show some emotion for their departing coach, it would have done so well before this. We’ll lay the points with California, the 35-point favorite in the BetUS NCAA college football sports betting odds.
