Week 14 – WISCONSIN BADGERS (8-3) @ HAWAII WARRIORS (6-6)

Date: Saturday, December 5, 11:30 AM EST
Site: Honolulu, HI
BetUS LINE: Wisconsin -12.5

Preview:

The Badgers get a long flight over the Pacific and some first-rate weather this weekend as they do battle in Aloha Stadium. They meet a characteristic Hawaii squad, which can run up passing yards and points with the best of them, but have little else of substance.

The long and short of this story will undoubtedly be Wisconsin’s running game. Hawaii is a dismal 104th in the nation in rush defense, and gouging people on the ground has always been the Badgers’ long suit. There’s no reason Wisconsin RB John Clay won’t have a field day against the overmatched Warrior defenders.

Hawaii’s sophomore pivot, Bryant Moniz, should be able to move the ball aerially, particularly hooking up with WR Greg Salas.

But there aren’t any slouches in Wisconsin’s secondary and the Badgers’ talent pool is quite deeper than most of Hawaii’s in-conference foes.

Hawaii might have the home turf in their favour, but the Badgers will likely have a day to adjust to the time difference and the beautiful weather won’t inhibit on-field play; it would clearly be much more impactful if the Warriors travelled to frigid Camp Randall Stadium to play in December in the Midwest.

At the end of the day, look for Wisconsin to reasonably handle Hawaii’s frenzied pass attack and look for the Badgers to control the clock by virtue of their stable of running backs having excellent afternoons.

There’s going to be holes to run through; hopefully they’re giving out Aunt Jemima to Wisconsin’s offensive line because there’s going to be a lot of pancakes out there.
