Week 13 – FLORIDA STATE SEMINOLES (6-5) @ FLORIDA GATORS (11-0)

Date: Saturday, November 28, 3:30 PM EST
Site: Gainesville, FL
BetUS LINE: Florida -24.5

Preview:

While the Gators have ascended to the nation’s elite in recent seasons, every other powerhouse team in the state has basically fallen by the wayside. No team typifies this better than the Seminoles, a juggernaut squad under coach Bobby Bowden in the 1990s.

The ‘Noles have sunk to irrelevancy lately as has Coach Bowden, an older gentleman many people think should step down and allow offensive coordinator (and head coach-in-waiting) Jimbo Fisher to take the reins. Perhaps this could be Coach Bowden’s last game?

One person who will be playing their last home game is quarterback Tim Tebow. Quite possibly the best college football player of all time is having a pedestrian season by his standards (1,945 yards passing, 706 rushing yards, 25 total TD) but he’s sure to be amped up in his final game at The Swamp.

He certainly doesn’t have the offense previous Gators teams have enjoyed (Riley Cooper is his best wide receiver?) but Florida has still been able to effectively grind games out all season. If there were a game to open the floodgates a tad, it would be versus rival FSU and their leaky 106th-ranked defense.

I would be extremely surprised if the Gators’ NFL-like defense doesn’t force youthful ‘Noles QB E.J. Manuel into some turnovers. Florida State has shown they can put points on the board against most opponents, but UF has by far the best defense the ‘Noles have seen this season. Florida State has nothing to lose and while I’m sure they would like nothing more than to spoil “The Chosen One’s” last hurrah, FSU is simply going to lose against a superior team.

While the spread on this game is massive and I think FSU will bring a valiant effort (Read: look how Texas A&M hung with Texas admirably earlier this week) look for the Gators to emerge victorious in a game that isn’t really close.
