NCAA Football Betting: UCLA vs Wash St

Saturday, November 14 – 5 PM ET

BetUS NCAA Football: UCLA -17, Total 48.5

UCLA’s offense seems to have been coming alive a bit in the last couple of games, first gaining 374 yards (not bad for them) against Oregon State, then going for 455 yards in last week’s 24-23 win over Steve Sarkisian’s Washington Huskies.

Kevin Prince has had 535 yards passing over the last two weeks, but he suffered a broken jaw and a concussion last week, and Kevin Craft had to pick up things the rest of the way. Craft threw for 159 and an interception, but also led the team on the scoring drives that overcame a nine-point third-quarter deficit.

Here are some of the NCAA college football betting lines as they relate to this matchup:

UCLA has covered one of its last six games
UCLA has lost five of its last six games SU
UCLA has played seven of its last eight games UNDER the total
UCLA has lost 11 of its last 13 road games SU
UCLA has played its last five road games UNDER the total
WSU has covered five of its last seven games
WSU has lost its last six games SU
WSU has played five of its last seven games UNDER the total
WSU has covered four of its last six home games
WSU has lost six of its last eight home games SU

Also….

WSU has covered seven of the last eight meetings
WSU has won six of the last eight meetings SU
WSU has covered the last five meetings as the home team
WSU has won five of the last six meetings SU as the home team

This is where Washington State (which actually stands 5-4 ATS) stands right now in the NCAA statistics, for those of you who are interested in such things – they are #115 in rushing, 117th in total offense, 119th in scoring, 115th against the run, 118th against the pass, 119th in total yards allowed and 117th in scoring defense. They’re talking about how the weather, which could reach levels of freezing, might be a help to the Cougars, but for a team like that, is there anything that would be?

Kraft has at least improved himself when it comes to giving the ball away, as he’s thrown just two INT’s in 89 attempts, compared to 20 in 417 passes last year. That will help UCLA here from a football gambling standpoint. Freshman quarterback Jeff Tuel has a partially dislocated kneecap for Wazzu, and this team will be in difficult shape if it has to put the offense back in the hands of Marshall Lobbestael.

The Cougars are used to playing from behind, having been outscored 145-3 in the first quarters of games this season. That’s a tough thing to recover from, especially when you are missing the only QB who has moved the ball with any kind of regularity (if that’s even the word). We’ll lay the points with UCLA, the 17-point favorite in the BetUS NCAA football odds.
