At Arizona State they’re making a quarterback change, Brock Osweiler, a true freshman who stands 6’8″, led the Siun Devils on their only touchdown drive last week against the USC Trojans (where ASU lost 14-9 but covered in the NCAA football odds) and he is here in place of Danny Sullivan not necessarily because Sullivan has been ineffective (he does barely crack the top 100 in the NCA’s passer ratings) but because the senior has to miss this one with a biceps injury.

ASU’s team statistical rankings have changed a bit since they go out of their soft non-conference schedule, but they’re still competitive defensively, allowing 292 yards a game and holding opponents to just 2.8 yards a carry. Arizona State has lost three games in a row, however, and with a 4-5 record, with three games left, this team is going to have to win two out of the remaining three (UCLA and Arizona follow this) to get a bowl berth.

They’re going to be in a tough situation here. Oregon has to be more than a bit ornery this week. It appears clear that in the aftermath of the 47-20 walloping they gave out to USC two weeks ago, they forgot to prepare for Stanford, and the Cardinal chalked up a 51-42 victory. You can’t blame the Ducks’ offense, though; they had 580 yards, including 334 through the air with three TD’s out of Jeremiah Masoli, who added 55 rushing yards and seems to be more of a threat every week.

The frosh QB for ASU makes things easier, and perhaps there’s an emotional boost with the return of LaGarrette Blount, thought to have been suspended for the season after punching out Boise State player following the season opener, but rehabilitated and back in action this weekend. Whether he deserves to be there or not is another question, but the fact is that Blount’s presence makes a dangerous Oregon team even more dangerous.

We’re going to lay the points in this Pac-10 matchup with Oregon, favored by 18 points in the NCAA football odds at BetUS Sportsbook.
