Ohio State is coming off a 45-0 blowout win over New Mexico State. Penn State also won big over Northwestern this past weekend, 34-13.
Buckeyes QB Terrelle Pryor, who chose Ohio State over Penn State and Michigan, is expecting a hard welcome from the fans in Happy Valley. “The crowd is going to be against us, especially against me,” Pryor said.
“I’ll probably get booed as soon as I go out to warm up,” he said. But it really doesn’t matter. I got my family with me, all 75 (teammates) that travel, and we’re going to be ready to rock. I can’t wait.”
Pryor has been inconsistent all year throwing 13 TDs and 9 picks. His biggest problem is that he tries to win the game by himself with every throw or every run. If Penn State manages to pressure Pryor it could be a long afternoon for the sophomore QB.
On the other side, Penn State QB Darryll Clark has been mistakes free the last three games giving a tremendous edge on QB in this game to the Lions. Clark has thrown 18 TD in the season with 7 picks, being an inside the pocket QB that loves to throw long down the field.
“I think Daryll is the leader of the offensive football team,” Coach Joe Paterno said after his 391st career victory Saturday. “He is a guy that makes us go.”
Expect Clark to look for WR Derek Moye in big plays and Graham Zug in short third down situations.
Another edge for the Lions is their running game; Junior RB Evan Royster is having a good year rushing for 859 yards and 5 TDs on the season. In any scenario QB Pryor is the biggest weapon on the ground for the Buckeyes, not a good sign if you realize they are up to face the best rushing defense in the Big Ten.
Consider these College Football betting trends: Ohio State is 7-1 ATS in its last 8 games and Penn State is 13-1 SU in its last 14 games at home.
Also if you’re betting on the game total keep in mind it has gone UNDER in 4 of Penn State’s last 5 games when playing Ohio State.
My pick: Penn State will cover the spread.
