NCAAF – Georgia Bulldogs vs. Florida Gators (@ Jacksonville)

The Georgia Bulldogs (7-1 SU, 2-2-2 ATS) scored a big victory this past weekend against LSU. On Saturday, in college football sports betting action, they will once again engage in the “World’s Largest Cocktail Party” when they take on the Florida Gators (6-1 SU, 5-2 ATS) in a huge SEC showdown that is set to take place at 3:30 PM ET at the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville.

Here are some of the NCAA college football sports betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

* GA has won 14 of its last 15 games SU
* GA is 2-2-2 ATS in its last five games
* GA has played four of its last six games UNDER the total
* GA has won its last six road games SU
* GA has played five of its last seven road games UNDER the total
* FLA has covered nine of its last 12 games
* FLA has won six of its last seven games SU
* FLA has won 22 of its last 26 home games SU
* FLA has played seven of its last ten home games OVER the total

Also…

* FLA has won eight of the last ten meetings SU
* Five of the last seven meetings have gone UNDER the total
* FLA has won seven of the last eight meetings SU as the home team

In terms of his individual numbers, it certainly doesn’t look like Tim Tebow is having anywhere near the kind of season he had last year when he won the Heisman Trophy. Tebow has rushed for only five touchdowns and passed for 12 more, which projects to 10 and 24, respectively, not close to last year’s totals of 29 TD passes and 22 TD runs in closing out the regular season (he added three TD passes and a TD rush in the bowl game vs. Michigan).

What does this mean for the Gators? Well, part of it is that Tebow may have better weapons at his disposal, with running backs Jeffrey Demps and Chris Rainey both topping 300 yards thus far (Demps has almost 12 yards per rush!!). Percy Harvin, though, has just 26 catches and a couple of games where he’s had 50 yards or more. What Florida has done very well is defend against the run (15th in nation), play very efficient on its special teams units, and hold turnovers down. Tebow has just two interceptions and the Gators are third nationally in TO margin. Still, the wins are against teams who largely fell far short of expectations, and it may turn out LSU was not nearly as good as advertised.

Georgia took care of LSU as well, though perhaps not in as spectacular a fashion. They also turned back Arizona State and South Carolina on the road. The Bulldogs don’t seem all that uncomfortable in venturing away from Athens, having won their last six road games. And though this is supposed to a neutral site, it’s still in Florida, and still in the GATOR Bowl.

Knowshon Moreno is starting to catch fire. The sophomore, touted early as a Heisman favorite, may be edging back into the race; though he only gained 34 yards against Alabama, he has put together 436 yards over the last three games, including eight yards a carry against LSU. Matthew Stafford’s thrown four interceptions in his last three games, but he’s also had five efforts of 249 yards or more.

We recognize that there is a revenge angle for Florida here, as they lost last season’s matchup by a 42-30 count. But Moreno got 188 yards in that game, and the Bulldogs do a damn good job against the run (only 2.8 ypc). There’s enough on the Georgia side where they can make this a down-to-the-wire affair, even if they go down to defeat. Take the points with Georgia, the 5.5-point underdogs in the BetUS NCAA college football sports betting odds.
