Week 10 NCAAF Betting – Florida State Seminoles at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Coming into this game with a four-game winning streak, the Florida State Seminoles (6-1 SU, 3-2 ATS) are riding pretty high as they take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (6-2 SU, 5-1 ATS) in NCAA college football sports betting action in the Atlantic Coast Conference, and beginning at 3:30 PM ET at Bobby Dodd Stadium (natural turf) in Atlanta.

Saturday, November 1
BetUS NCAA Football Betting Odds: GEORGIA TECH -1.5

Here are some of the NCAA college football sports betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

* FSU has won six of its last seven games SU
* FSU is 1-3-1 ATS in its last five road games
* FSU has played five of its last seven road games OVER the total
* GT has won four of its last five games SU
* GT has won four of its last five home games SU

Also…

* GT has covered four of the last five meetings
* FSU has won the last eight meetings SU

You would expect that a Paul Johnson-coached team would be highly-ranked when it came to its rushing game, and that is the case with the Yellow Jackets, who have averaged almost 237 yards on the ground (9th nationally) and 4.9 yards a pop. Last week’s loss to Virginia can’t be looked upon as anything but a downer, however, as Tech allowed 270 yards passing by the Cavs’ shaky Marc Verica and couldn’t manage more than four yards a carry on offense.

Maybe they were caught looking ahead to Florida State, which has now won four straight games and puts itself in position for a possible appearance in the ACC title game. Offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher, who is also known as the “head coach-in waiting,” is very high on the attributes of sophomore QB Christian Ponder, who has gone the last two games without throwing an interception. But Ponder has completed more than 14 passes only once, and once again we may be seeing where running back Antone Smith is bring under-used.

The Seminoles may have gotten lucky last week as Virginia Tech not only was without Tyrod Taylor, but lost Sean Glennon to injury as well. And they almost blew a huge lead against Miami a few weeks ago. FSU isn’t putting all its best receivers out there, either, which is a reflection on Fisher and the job he’s doing in utilizing these component parts.

Florida State has done a good job in shutting down running attacks (2.7 ypc), but this is a more efficient operation along those lines than they’ve faced all year. And of course, GT brings an outstanding defensive line, which not only penetrates (second in nation in tackles for loss) but also puts pressure on (Michael Johnson could be top five NFL choice). I would not look for the Ramblin’ Wreck to fall asleep at the wheel again, not under Johnson. We’ll lay the 1.5 points with Georgia Tech, the favorite in the BetUS NCAA college football sports betting odds.

Our PLAY: GEORGIA TECH -1.5 ***
