It seems cliche at this point, but the offensive prowess of both the Badger and the Buckeyes can’t be matched by many teams in college football.

With two of the best run games in the nation, Ohio State and Wisconsin must both dig deep and do their best to stop the opposing ground game.

Wisconsin

Despite the talented quarterbacks of the recent past who have passed through Wisconsin, the team’s identity has been in the run game. That’s no different this year as Melvin Gordon is not only leading the Buckeyes rushing attack, but is leading the nation doing it. So far on the season, Gordon has 53 carries for 624 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Not far behind Gordon is James White, who was the leading rusher last season when Gordon was down with injury. White has 442 yards and 3 touchdowns on 61 carries. And not far behind White is Corey Clement, who has amassed 334 yards and 4 touchdowns on 44 carries this season.

Starting quarterback Joel Stave may be in the shadows of his running backs, but he has made contributions of his own, throwing for 761 yards, 6 touchdowns, a 3 interceptions on the season. His leading receiver is one of the best in the nation, Jared Abbrederis, who has 23 catches for 365 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Badger defense is ranked 6th in the nation in total defense at 243.3 yards per game as well as 10th in scoring defense, allowing 10.5 points per game. Leading the defense in tackles is Chris Borland, with 30. Borland also has 1.5 tackles for loss, a sack and a pass defended. As a team, The Badgers have tallied 16 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 4 interceptions, 20 passes defended and 3 forced fumbles, all recovered by Wisconsin. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Ohio State

The Buckeyes were arguably the second best team in all of college football last season. After an undefeated season, Ohio State was not allowed to face Alabama in the National Championship due to NCAA sanctions. This season, Urban Meyer and company are looking to go undefeated again and make as much noise as possible heading into bowl season.

Braxton Miller started the season as the #1 quarterback for the Buckeyes before he went down with injury. Before he went down, he had thrown for 208 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception. Word has come down that Miller will be available this weekend, but after the number Kenny Guiton has put up, Meyer may have a slight dilemma on his hands.

So far this season, Guiton is 65 of 92 for 664 yards, 13 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He has also rushed for 186 yards and a touchdown. Guiton’s biggest benefactor this season has been Devin Smith who has 16 catches for 281 yards and 4 touchdowns. Corey Brown also has 16 receptions on the season for 169 yards and 3 touchdowns.

I haven’t even mentioned the running game. Running back Jordan Hall has 68 carries for 422 yards and 8 touchdowns. Ezekiel Elliott has 21 carries for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns while Dontre Wilson has 13 carries for 121 yards and a touchdown of his own.

Betting Trends

• Buckeyes are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games.
• Buckeyes are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games in September.
• Buckeyes are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games on fieldturf.
• Badgers are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game.
• Badgers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game.

Prediction: Ohio State -7

Ohio State looks to be one of the hottest teams in all of college football. After going undefeated last season, the team looks even better this season. Despite the fact that this is a rivalry game between 2 big offenses, my money is on Ohio State to keep rolling.
