Arizona Wildcats vs. #9 Oklahoma State Cowboys Preview

CFB lines have OSU as big 14.5-point favorites in this game.

Arizona killed Northern Arizona 41-10 in their opening game while Oklahoma State poured on the offense in their 61-34 drubbing of Louisiana-Lafayette. In those games both went over and while Arizona covered the spread OSU did not.

These teams met in last season’s Alamo Bowl and the Cowboys won 36-10 and if they can play D like they did in that game they should have no trouble winning this Thursday night.

OSU has a dynamic offense led by QB Brandon Weeden, who passed for 388 yards with 3 TD, but also had 3 INT, in the easy win over Louisiana-Lafayette. He has a big name WR in Justin Blackmon and new featured RB Joseph Randle played well last week with 129 rushing yards and 2 TD.

The Wildcats have a good run defense and an athletic secondary and last week they held Northern Arizona to 179 passing yards and 80 rushing yards, but they will have to play a great game on D to keep the Cowboys from lighting up the scoreboard.

One key weakness for Arizona last season as their D in the red zone and they cannot let that happen again or OSU will easily win.

The Wildcats feature star QB in Nick Foles, who was superb last week passing for 412 yards with 5 TD and 0 picks. Like Weeden Foles has a stud WR in Juron Criner (6 rec 151 yards 1 TD last week). [soliloquy id=”82219″]
The big question mark for the Cowboys this season is their pass defense and that showed in their first game giving up 212 passing yards to Louisiana-Lafayette. If Foles is given protection he may have a big game through the air, but keeping up with the Cowboys is still a tall task.

The Wildcats did not rush for many yards last week (75), but did not have to with Foles moving the ball in the air at will. Still, the Zona RB duo of Ka’Deem Carey and Keola Antolin each averaged over 6 yards per carry last week and will be counted on to run the ball in this game to keep the OSU offense on the sidelines.

Betting Trends

Arizona is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as an underdog of 10.5 or more and they have an Under record of 5-2 in their last 7 non-conference games.
Oklahoma State is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as a home favorite of 10.5 or more, 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games, and has an Over record of 5-1 in their last 6 non-conference games.

Jason’s Pick:

OSU may have the best offense in the nation, but their D has serious issues. Arizona also has a solid offense and I think their D will play well in this game.

Arizona may not win, but they will cover the big 14.5-point spread and even though the total will be a high one when posted I think it will go Over whatever it is.

OSU did give up 212 yards against louisiana but you hafta realize that half of the 3rd and the whole 4th quarter was played with 2nd and 3rd string defense. If you wanna write an article then do your homework Jason Green.
