It will be interesting to see how the team responds. They’ll be home this Thursday night to take on the Eastern Michigan Eagles in an important MAC matchup.

Eastern Michigan

The Eastern Michigan Eagles made great strides last year in improving their program, but it seems they are headed in the wrong direction again this season. Eastern Michigan is just 1-7 so far this year, and they have been blown out on multiple occasions. Four of their seven losses have been by 20 points or more.

This offense has absolutely no passing right now, but unlike last year they haven’t even been able to run the ball. The Eagles had success on the ground last season, but they rank 78th in the nation in rushing yards this year.

The offense has been bad, but the defense has been even worse. Eastern Michigan is dead last in the nation in rushing defense.

This unit is giving up a ridiculous 302 yards per game on the ground. Opponents are racking up 491 yards of total offense per game against the Eagles defense. When opponents are gaining more than 300 yards per game on the ground, it is tough to win football games.

The Eagles are giving up 37.5 points per game.

Ohio

The Ohio Bobcats had big plans for the season, and last week’s loss had to hurt really badly. The Bobcats were down 23-20 with nine seconds left in the game, and they were on the Miami Redhawks seven yard line. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The team attempted one last play to win the game rather than kick a field goal to tie, and quarterback Tyler Tettleton was sacked to end the game. It was the ultimate heart breaking loss for this team.

They still have plenty to play for inside the MAC. How will this team respond to such a rough loss?

Tettleton is a star quarterback for the Bobcats offense. He is a dual-threat quarterback who has 12 touchdown passes and just one interception this year.

Ohio’s wide receivers have been dinged up, and that has hurt the passing game over the last few weeks. Beau Blankenship has 1,025 rushing yards to lead a very good rushing attack. Ohio’s balance on offense makes them a difficult team to slow down.

Defensively, the Bobcats have had all sorts of injury problems. The secondary is beat up badly, and the pass rush isn’t nearly as good as it was earlier in the year. As a result, recent opponents have found quite a bit of success throwing the ball against this unit.

Eastern Michigan isn’t a good team, and I think the Bobcats will bounce back in a big way here.

Look for Ohio to dominate this game.
