Idaho Vandals vs. LSU Tigers Free Gambling Prediction & Week 3 Preview

Vandals vs Tigers NCAA Football Spread/Handicapping

It has been a pretty ugly start for Idaho.  First they lose to FCS Eastern Washington (at home) while scoring just 3 points.  Things were a little better last week as they hung in there on the road against Bowling Green losing by just 8.

Idaho

Still they have combined for just 16 points against those opponents – what hope do they have in crossing the goal line against LSU?.

I hope the trip is worth what they are getting paid.

One thing the Vandals have going for them is that they might have the biggest QB in the nation – literally.  Dominique Blackman, who was originally recruited by Washington weighs an astonishing 274 pounds and should be able to take the hits that are coming.  I don’t know the story as to why he didn’t play in the opener but he put up 352 yards against Bowling Green.  It might be a little bit tougher this week though.

There have been some huge numbers already this season and this line is right up there – especially considering Idaho is a FBS school.  The only chance I see for the Vandals is to sneak in the backdoor in this one with a late TD.  There is just too much of a talent advantage on the LSU side.  Don’t waste your money here.

LSU

The Tigers looked very good against Washington last week.  Some thought the Keith Price led Huskies might surprise LSU but after giving up the first points of the game (a FG) the Tigers shut them out the rest of the while scoring 41 points of their own, again.  Just another indicator that this team, despite personnel losses, doesn’t appear to be having any hangover from last year.  If they are focused and not looking ahead (@Auburn next week) they should roll over the Vandals. LSU’s offense was efficient but it was the defense that led the way against Washington.  The Huskies averaged barely over 1 yard per carry and they knocked Price off his game – literally.  We still haven’t seen what new QB Zach Mettenberger can do against a defense with a pulse but we probably won’t see much of that this week either.  LSU might have the best group of backs in the country.  They are 4 deep there and all are strong runners.

Every time I see a number over 28 I pause…and this one is almost double that.  The Vandals have ventured to Death Valley before back in 1998 and the Tigers won by 33.  If that happens again it will almost be considered an upset.  Still look elsewhere.  Although the Tigers beat Washington by 38 and the Huskies roster actually does have some talent.
