Hurricanes vs Wildcats NCAA Football Spread/Handicapping

I have to admit that I am bullish on Miami this season. I didn’t get to see a ton of their opener against Boston College but they won in hostile territory and that is what this program needs wins…they just need to get their confidence back – the swagger.

Miami

Lookout if they do!  Kansas State presents another and stiffer challenge but if this team plays up to its potential it can certainly continue their winning ways.

Against BC we saw the coming out party for freshman Duke Johnson, a running back from a local high school whose speed saw him rip off two TDS and gather 135 yards on just 7 carries.

That is some debut, huh?  With a strong ground game the Canes were able to let QB Stephen Morris pick his spots.  He wasn’t great but he made the plays needed to play winning football.

There is a lot of potential there to improve and I think he will.

It is never easy to win on the road when you travel to a BCS conference school but I think the Canes can do it.  Getting a 7 point cushion on top of that makes this a great value opportunity.  Throw in a little revenge for “The U” and I think you are going to see a very fired up team Saturday kicking off the weekend.

Kansas State is good but they aren’t scary. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Kansas State

Bill Snyder is doing it again at Kansas State.  I don’t know how he does but he gets this team to win, often against teams with talent that far exceeds that of the Wildcats.  Last year was somewhat of a miracle season with so many come from behind victories they got hard to count, including one against the Hurricanes.

Unfortunately for KSU those things tend to even out and it might start evening out Saturday.

The spot on the field where KSU has the greatest edge is at QB where Colin Klein is a darkhorse Heisman candidate.  He is among the best run-pass threats in the nation and he played well when it has mattered most.

Last week against Missouri State he was not called upon to do too much but he looked good in getting the rust out to get ready for this contest.  He will have to have another game like he did last year to lead the Wildcats to victory.

The line on this one gives way too much credit to KSU.  I think this is a FG game and it could probably go either way.

Last year the Canes were a 12.5 point favourites at home and one year later it the number has swung to -7 in favour of KSU.

That’s a big swing and once again the underdog is quite live.
