If there’s any silver lining for South Florida it’s that they nearly upset American Conference leader UCF. So, South Florida are coming in with some sort of momentum, you can say in a way. They have that moral victory behind them and will look to get an actual victory over a Rutgers team that has fallen apart.

Rutgers started the year in really good shape. They went to Fresno and nearly beat Fresno State, who has gone on to have a really good season themselves. After that tough loss, Rutgers bounced back by winning four in a row including beating Arkansas and conference foe SMU. But, it’s been all downhill from there. Rutgers went into Louisville and while they only lost by 14, they never really were in the game. Then at home they were blown out by Houston.

Rutgers bounced back with a hard fought win versus a Temple team that ended up finishing the year with 2 wins, but that’s been their only win of late. They then went on to lose to Cincinnati, UCF, Connecticut by a combined total of 121-51. The silver lining to that is Rutgers has gotten better and been consistent during this three game skip.

Rutgers lost to Cincinnati 52-17, UCF 41-17, and Connecticut 28-17. So, Rutgers has gotten better and they are good for 17 points. All jokes aside, Rutgers really needs this game just to become bowl eligible.

Danny’s FREE College Football Pick:

Both teams aren’t very good, but at the end of the day, South Florida is just a really bad team. Don’t get me wrong, Rutgers are bad as well, but Rutgers are playing at home, they really need this game to just to have a shot at playing in a bowl game, and South Florida is a really bad team.

Rutgers averages 377 yards a game, 248 passing yards, and 129 rushing yards. They score 27 points a game and give up 32 points a game. South Florida run for 95 yards a game, pass for 169 yards a game, and there total offense is 265 yards a game. South Florida only score 14 points a game and allow 28 points a game.

All in all, I’ll take my chances with the Scarlet Knights. As mentioned above, they have a lot to play for and they do have a couple of weapons that could potentially go off on the weak South Florida defense. Senior quarterback Gary Nova, while he’s struggled his year, he could potential have a good game against a team like the Bulls. Running back Paul James is pretty good himself running for 720 yards and rushing for 7 touchdowns. I’ll take Rutgers to win the game and cover the spread.

Pick: Rutgers -6
Prediction: Rutgers 27 – South Florida 17
