Kansas State Wildcats

After a rough start the Kansas State Wildcats find themselves going to a 4th straight bowl game on the back of a four game winning streak. After opening the year losing to FCS school the North Dakota State Bison and starting the year 2-4 it didn’t look like Kansas State would be bowl eligible nor would it look like they’d be in a position to have a winning year, but low and behold they’ve turned it around.

Their offense has come around even with two quarterbacks leading the way. Bill Snyder has made it work alternating Jake Waters the passer and Daniel Sims the runner at quarterback.

Last week versus TCU, Waters threw for 234 yards and two touchdowns. While Sims ran the ball 19 times for 109 yards and a touchdown.

Not only has their offense come around, but their defense is flying around making plays once again. In the last four games, Kansas State’s opposition has given up 11 turnovers and Kansas State has allowed just 19 points in the last four games as well.

Next to the Baylor Bears, the Kansas State Wildcats are one of the hottest teams in the Big 12.

Oklahoma Sooners

The Oklahoma Sooners, meanwhile, are trending downward. The Sooners are 3-2 in their last five games and even in their wins they haven’t looked particularly good.

Last week, at home, versus Iowa State they started extremely slowly. Down 10-3 just before halftime a 91 yard punt return by Jalen Saunders kicked things off for the Sooners going into halftime and they carried that momentum into the second half. The Sooners ended up scoring 45 unanswered points and beating Iowa State 45-10.

Unfortunately, for the Sooners, a big reason Oklahoma came rumbling back versus Iowa State is because of their running attack. Led by Damien Williams, the Oklahoma Sooners rushed for 408 yards; Williams led the way with 128 yards and two touchdowns.

Now, I say unfortunately because Williams will not be playing versus Kansas State this Saturday due to being suspended for violations not yet known.

On the flip side, freshman quarterback Trevor Knight will get the nod under center. The Sooners offense finally got things going once Knight came into the game. Knight is an explosive dual threat runner who replaced a concussed Blake Bell last week and the offense moved with his legs. He contributed 123 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Danny’s FREE NCAAF Pick:

Before the line came out I thought for sure there would be a lot of value.

I had circled this game as a money game. I was anticipating – or at least hoping – Kansas State would be the underdog. As it turns out, the line is flipped; Kansas State is the 3.5 point favorite.

Unfortunately, the line isn’t the best, but it still possesses a lot of value. I like Kansas State in this game. I like them to win this game and cover the spread in a somewhat low scoring game.

I expect both teams to come out trying to run and I think both teams will have varying degrees of success, but all in all, I believe the Wildcats will get the better of it.

Pick: Kansas State -3.5, Under: 54.5
Prediction: Kansas State 31 – Oklahoma 21
