Fresh off a dominating 42-0 victory over PAC-10 cupcake Washington State, the Sun Devils will play its last game outside of Arizona as they try to beat USC for the first time since 1999.

The Devils should have some momentum from its win over the Cougars, a game where they ran the board from the opening kickoff, scoring a touchdown on their first drive and never looking back.

Quarterback Steven Threet tossed for 300 yards and three touchdowns in just over a half of work, while the ASU defense derailed the WSU offense, holding them to just eight yards rushing while forcing three turnovers.

Freshman DE Junior Onyeali, was selected Pac-10 defensive player of the week after harassing Cougars’ quarterback Jeff Tuel, sacking him three times, while racking up four tackles for loss and two forced fumbles.

But which Arizona State team will show up Saturday night at the Coliseum?

The one that defeated Washington and Washington State, or the one that lost to Oregon, Oregon State and California in conference play.

That’s what the Trojans want to know, as the square off against a team that is more than a little unpredictable.

As for USC, it enters the game with a 5-3 record, 2-3 in the Pac-10 after a 53-32 loss to Oregon.

USC entered the Coliseum as an underdog for the first time in 51 games since 2001, and for a second or two the Trojans thought they might have finally found a way to stop the nation’s top-ranked team, as USC got off to a solid start despite a quick strike by Oregon on its first drive.

However, it turned out the Ducks were just getting started as they put together 24 unanswered points to close out the game

While the Trojans have lost three of their last four games, they still boast one of the top passing games in the country and are 13th in the nation in yards per game. QB Matt Barkley passed for 264 yards and Marc Tyler rushed for two touchdowns for the Trojans, whose defensive kept them in it until the third quarter.

The defensive cracks that surfaced late in the game were the same ones that showed up in the Trojans first game of the 2010 campaign against Hawaii where it was worked over for 588 yards, then 537 by Washington, and 478 by Stanford.

This will be the 27th meeting between Arizona State and USC, with the Trojans holding a 17-9 lead.

Despite the trouble in Troy regarding its defense, the offense has proven it can keep the team in games.  ASU will need to bring its a-game to the Coliseum if they want to walk away with a W in this one.
