The Huskies, fresh off an early bye week, will look to cool off Illinois who have put up 40+ points in each of their first 2 games. Illinois will need to slow down Washington who steamrolled Boise State in week 1 to climb into the top 25.

Washington

Sark’s group played a well rounded game against Boise State. The offensive line allowed quarterback Keith Price to find his guys down field and allowed running back Bishop Sankey to continue to punish the defense.

Even with star tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins out, Price managed to make due with what he had.

The Husky defense played fast and effective against the Broncos and have shown much improvement from years passed. Linebacker Shaq Thompson and safety Sean Parker highlight the young Husky D who will be looking to stop the aerial attack surely coming at them.

The Huskies are looking for more of a pass rush from their defense and top defensive ends Josh Shirley and Andrew Hudson are looking to answer that call against a team who likes to throw. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Illinois

After a disappointing 2012 campaign, Illinois looks to get back on track. After starting 2-0 this season, they are certainly starting things off right. With gunslinger Nathan Scheelhaase (54 of 73 for 728 yards, 6 TD, 1 INT) at the helm, the Illini have taken to the air this season, putting up 42 and 45 points already this season.

Assisting Scheelhaase on offense is Josh Ferguson, a dual threat running back who is not only leading the team in rushing, but also in receiving.

On defense, Washington must watch out for linebackers Jonathan Brown and Mason Monehim, who have been a nuisance to opposing offenses.

They are also only 2 of 4 returning defensive starters for the Illini who have registered just under a third of the team’s combined tackles this season.

Betting Trends

• Huskies are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
• Huskies are 4-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
• Fighting Illini are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
• Fighting Illini are 1-7 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.

Prediction: Washington +10

While Illinois may be hot right now, Washington has a much more balanced team that should have little difficulty stopping the one dimensional passing attack of the Illini. It may be on the road, but the Huskies roll.
