College Football Betting – Virginia Tech Hokies vs. Miami Hurricanes

The competition in the ACC Coastal Division is heating up, and BetUS Sportsbook will have another fantastic showdown for sports betting fans when the Virginia Tech Hokies (6-3, 3-5 ATS) hook up with the Miami Hurricanes (6-3, 5-3 ATS) on ESPN’s Thursday Night Football.

V-Tech has dominated this series since 1998, covering eight of the L/10 against the Canes. Last season, the Hokies clobbered Miami 44-14 as 16.5-point home favorites.

With both QBs Tyrod Taylor and Sean Glennon ailing from injuries suffered against Florida State, RB Darren Evans was asked to pick up more of the slack for the Hokies offense. He responded with a career night, rushing the ball 32 times for 254 yards and a touchdown against Maryland.

QB Glennon gutted out his ankle injury, completing 14-of-20 passes for 127 yards and a score. Between the gutsy offensive effort and a defense that caused Maryland to lose 12 yards on the ground for the game, Virginia Tech left Blacksburg on Thursday night with a critical 23-13 victory over the Terps.

Even though oddsmakers thought the Hokies would be in trouble without a truly healthy quarterback, they had no problem covering the betting spread as three-point favorites. The college football betting victory snapped a three game skid for Virginia Tech bettors and also assured HC Frank Beamer that he would be taking his squad to a bowl game for the 11th consecutive season.

Miami was off from football betting action last weekend. It’s on a roll right now, as the Canes are winners of three straight both SU and ATS in ACC play. At times this season, the Hurricanes defense has simply been relentless. The unit ranks 12th in total yards (283.1) in spite of giving up almost 400 yards per game to their in-state rivals from Florida and Florida State.

The offense has its problems, though. QBs Robert Marve and Jacory Harris have only combined to throw for 1,619 yards and 14 touchdowns against 13 picks through nine games. The defense has assured that the Canes are going to go bowling again, but without stability at the quarterback position, “The U” has no chance of winning the still up for grabs ACC.

The hosts have been installed as four-point favorites on the NCAA betting line, with the ‘total’ coming in at 43.5.

All of the NCAAF betting trends suggest that a parlay of the visitors and the ‘under’ is in order. Tech is 13-4 ATS in its L/17 Thursday night games and 19-7 ATS in its L/26 games away from Lane Stadium. The Canes are just 5-16-1 in their L/22 home games. Thursday night has been a vintage ‘under’ night for both clubs, as the Hokies have played eight straight ‘under’ games under the Thursday night lights, while eight of the L/10 Miami appearances on Thursday Night Football have resulted in ‘unders’ for Hurricanes bettors.
