Will Muschamp and his troops will look to make the best of the remainder of their year though, with the team’s bowl eligibility still up in the air. On Saturday, they’ll look to get back over .500 both overall and in the SEC when they take on the Vanderbilt Commodores.

For all their troubles, the Gators have still been able to split their SEC games, and rank 11th in the FBS in points allowed, limiting opponents to 17.1 points per game.

That unit overcame a shaky start to limit the Georgia Bulldogs to three points over the final 44:37 over their last game, but their slow start sunk the team in a 23-20. The Bulldogs got off to a hot start, with Todd Gurley returning from injury and scoring a pair of touchdowns from 5, and 73 yards out just 5:41 into the game. The Gators would figure things out from there, limiting him to 100 yards on 17 carries in the game. The unit also forced the only turnover of the game.

The Florida offense remains a work in progress. Quarterback Tyler Murphy completing only 13 of 29 passes for 174 yards, adding 28 yards and a score on the ground. Running back Kelvin Taylor was handed the rock 20 times, but was only able to gain 76 yards on those totes. Receiver Quinton Dunbar was the unit’s lone bright spot, hauling in four balls for 91 yards.

Vanderbilt ran into a buzzsaw in the form of Texas A&M in their last time out. The Aggies won the game, 56-24. Backup quarterback Patton Robinette got the nod. He completed 15 of 28 passes for 216 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions, adding an additional score on the ground. Not surprisingly, he leaned heavily on Jordan Matthews, who caught eight passes for 92 yards. The team’s ground game was non-existent. 44 carries were turned into just 95 yards, an average of 2.2 yards per carry.

The Vanderbilt defense was helpless to stop Texas A&M’s potent offense. Defending Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel completed 25 of 35 passes for 305 yards and four touchdowns with an interception and 11 rushing yards before exiting early. The team had a ton of success on the ground as well as Vanderbilt just didn’t have an answer, allowing 5.7 yards per carry and 182 rushing yards total.

Florida is so banged right now that backing them is far too dangerous. Vanderbilt has some ugly losses under their belt this season, but they are a better team than their record indicates.

The road team is 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings between these teams.

The play: Vanderbilt +10
