Utah State made a good run in their last game against USC, but they were not able to take advantage of the current state of chaos at USC, as the Trojans were able to hold them off down the stretch.

The Aggies had trouble moving the ball against the USC defense. The team was held to just 285 yards of offense, and they only converted on five of 17 third down conversions. Quarterback Chuckie Keeton connected on 21 of 39 passes for 179 yards and a pair of scores.

The Aggie defense did a good job of limiting what the Trojans did offensively. Cody Kessler completed 13 of 27 passes for 164 yards and a score, while Tre Madden led all rushers, picking up 93 yards on 24 carries. When all was said and done, the Trojans compiled only 282 total yards. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The Spartans were desperate for a win in their last game against Minnesota, but they ran into a buzz saw in the form of a highly motivated Gophers squad that got their coach back, and they improved on their undefeated record with a 43-24 win.

Quarterback David Fales did all he could to keep the Spartans in it, throwing for 439 yards and three touchdowns. His favorite target in the game was Chandler Jones, who brought in seven balls for 197 yards and three touchdown. Among their connections was a 76-yard touchdown strike that at the time put San Jose State up 13-10. Fales is a strong NFL prospect, and he’ll need to continue to put up big numbers to get the Spartans back in position for a bowl appearance.

Minnesota quarterback Mitch Leidner gave San Jose State more trouble than any other Gopher, and he did most of his damage with his feet, rushing for 151 yards and four touchdowns. Leidner was limited to just 71 yards passing, so that can be viewed as a positive to draw off of. Running back David Cobb also had plenty of success on the ground, compiling 125 yards and a pair of scores.

Both of these teams are on strong ATS runs, with the Spartans posting a 21-6 ATS mark in their last 27 games, while the Aggies are 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 games. Giving away 10 points feels like a little much. This is the kind of matchup where you’re going to want to take the points.

The play: San Jose State +10
