UAB Blazers vs. LSU Tigers Gambling Predictions & Week 2 Preview

UAB vs LSU College Football Spread/Handicapping

UAB is not a very good team but there might be just enough wins for them to push for a spot in a bowl game at season’s end. This will not be one of them as they are on the road again after losing at Troy by three last week. It was an emotional loss as they let their opponents tie the game late and win in overtime so their emotions could be low.

The opposite is true for LSU which should be feeling great about beating TCU despite not playing all that great of a game against the Horned Frogs. LSU once again looks like a team that is going to be very tough to beat and this will be their first home game.

Sorry UAB but you might be a sacrificial lamb to the Bayou Bengals.

UAB

The Blazers were up by two touchdowns heading into the final quarter against Troy and lost the game in overtime, covering as 4.5 point underdogs. Even though they lost the offense was a positive with QB Austin Brown completing a high percentage of his passes and not turning the ball over.

Similarly junior RB Darrin Reaves looks like he is on his way to another 1000+ yard season with 104 in the opener.

Both players will be more significantly challenged this week against an LSU defense that is both speedy and strong. The defense won’t have much easier a time as they look to slow down an attack that made a TCU defense that was fantastic last year look pretty ordinary. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Giving up all those late points and nearly 500 yards to Troy do not a good defense make.

LSU

I have to admit I was wrong about LSU losing their opener to TCU. If you watched the game it didn’t look like they were playing all that great but they outgained the Horned Frogs by nearly 200 yards and dominated in time of possession.

As good as the defense was it was nice to see the offense take shape. I don’t think QB Zack Mettenberger is ever going to be a high percentage passer but in Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham he has a really good receiving duo to work with (both over 100 yards last week).

The running back corp may not have a true star but their depth is fantastic. Against TCU it was third option Terrence Magee who did the most damage. He was quick and strong and scored two touchdowns.

Suspended RB Jeremy Hill should play this week but they really don’t even need him.

LSU is just too much for the Blazers to handle all over the field on Saturday.

Spread Pick: LSU -34.5
