Troy enters off a loss, while Louisiana-Lafayette comes in having won six straight. Most recently, the team eked out a late win over New Mexico State, 49-35.

The final score in that one doesn’t tell the whole story as the Ragin’ Cajuns needed to mount a furious comeback in that one after trailing by 14 points at the break, and by as many as 21 points in the game. Running back Alonzo Harris keyed the offense in that one.

Harris rushed for 106 yards and five touchdowns in the contest. Quarterback Terrance Broadway didn’t have a bad game in his own right. He completed 14 of 20 passes for 231 yards with a touchdown and an interception, adding 28 yards rushing. As a team, Louisiana-Lafayette averaged 6.5 yards per carry.

The Ragin’ Cajun defense did a fine job of stopping the run in the game, limiting the Aggies to just 2.9 yards per carry, but they didn’t have quite so much success through the air. Andrew McDonald completed 24 of 34 passes for 327 yards and three touchdowns with an interception. The Ragin’ Cajuns had no answer for Austin Franklin, who hauled in 13 passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns.

Troy’s last game saw them fall to Louisiana-Monroe, 49-37. Problem number one in that game was their inability to defend the pass. Warhawks quarterback Kolton Browning did what he wanted in that game, completing 21 of 31 passes for 354 yards and five touchdowns. Running back Centarius Donald was also able to get his yards on the ground, turning 22 carries into 114 yards and a score.

Troy had a decent passing day as well. Quarterback Corey Robinson completed 31 of 52 passes for 362 yards and a pair of scores without an interception. He spread the ball out well, connecting with 11 different pass-catchers. His most frequent target on the night was Eric Thomas, who brought in six balls for 75 yards. Running back Jordan Chunn rushed the ball 13 times for 81 yards and a touchdown.

This game pits two teams heading in very different directions against one another. Louisiana-Lafayette is the team in better form entering this contest, and while they’re giving away a fair number of points, the Ragin’ Cajuns have won each of their last four games by no fewer than 16 points, and they have beaten Troy by double digits in each of the last two seasons.

The Ragin’ Cajuns are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games.

The play: Lousiana-Lafayette -12.5
