Toledo Rockets (4-5) v Central Michigan Chippewas (7-2)
Toledo: 4-5 ATS / Central Michigan: 6-2 ATS

The Toledo Rockets will look to keep any hope of a bowl appearance alive when they travel to Kelly Shorts Stadium on Wednesday to face division leader, the Central Michigan Chippewas.

The series history is tied 17-17-3. Toledo had won 10 straight games in this series, but Central Michigan has won the last four in a row including their last meeting on Oct. 25, 2008, 24-23.

The Rockets are in a must-win situation for any kind of bowl consideration. The Chips (7-2, 5-0) are the toughest MAC team to face, so the Rockets need their best performance of the season.

The Rockets have lost two consecutive games including a 34-21 loss to winless MAC opponent, Miami (Ohio) in Week 9. They have been plagued by injuries at the quarterback position and their inability to stop their opponents from scoring. The Rockets have forced their offense to have to out-score opponents in order to find wins. The defense is soft with the exception of senior safety Barry Church, who has been named one of 12 semifinalists for the Jim Thorpe Award, given annually to the best defensive back in the nation.

Central Michigan defeated Michigan State on the road en route to seven straight victories until a tough 31-10 loss against Boston College in Week 9. The Chips will be coming off a bye into Wednesday’s contest and should waste little time in getting a healthy lead against Toledo. Senior quarterback Dan LeFevour, leads the offense and is averaging 30.6 points and 389.8 yards per contest.

He leads the team with 548 yards rushing and has passed for 1,848 yards, rushing for a nine touchdowns and tossing for 16 on just five interceptions. Defensively CMU has shut down opponents, allowing a meager 16.9 points and 339.6 yards per game.

Rockets vs. Chippewas Odds:

The odds makers currently have the Chippewas as –15 ½ -point favorites.

Toledo’s only chance is to contain the Chips LeFevour, the MAC’s top player. Many teams have tried, but failed.

Toledo vs. Central Michigan Free Pick:

Look for the Chips to roll over the Rockets big in this one.
