Both teams have been off for a week, with a pair of games remaining on their schedules. The difference is, LSU is coming off a loss, 38-17 against top-seeded Alabama.

The game was closer than it appeared, as Alabama pulled away with a 14-0 fourth quarter. The Tigers actually gave the Crimson Tide some trouble, and quarterback Zach Mettenberger was a big part of that. He completed 16 of 23 passes for 241 yards and a score in the game.

They needed him to be big because the Tiger rushing attack never really did get going. Running back Jeremy Hill turned his 13 carries into just 42 yards and a touchdown, and the team totalled just 43 rushing yards on the night.

The team’s defense had a little more trouble than they would have liked. Running back T.J. Yeldon was a huge thorn in their side all day, rushing the ball 25 times for 133 yards and two scores, adding a 13-yard reception for good measure.

The Tide had plenty of success through the air as well, with quarterback AJ McCarron completing 14 of 20 passes for 179 yards and three touchdowns.

Texas A&M’s last game went very differently, as the team picked up an emotional win over Mississippi State in what was likely Johnny Manziel’s final game at Kyle Field, 51-41.

The game wasn’t nearly as close as the final score indicates – Mississippi State scored the final 14 points in the game. Manziel put on a heck of a show for the home crowd, completing 30 of his 39 passes for 446 yards and five touchdowns, adding 47 rushing yards, although he was picked off three times. Manziel’s 47 rushing yards easily topped the team.

The team’s defense came apart at the seams late, surrendering 27 points in the final 15:44 of the game. In total the Aggies allowed the Bulldogs to roll out 556 yards of offense, including 299 on the ground, with quarterback Dak Prescott churning out 154 yards on 16 totes.

Prescott also had success through the air, completing 14 of 26 passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns with an interception.

Going into Death Valley isn’t something to be taken lightly, but Texas A&M ranks fifth in points per game in the FBS and they should be able to keep their offensive machine running in this one.

The Tigers are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games overall.

The play: Texas A&M +4.5
