With Oregon’s loss to Stanford bumping Florida State up into the two-hole in just about every poll, the team will surely look to keep things rolling to maintain their standing.

The Seminoles made the Demon Deacons look absolutely silly in a 59-3 throttling in Winston-Salem on Saturday.

The Seminoles were of course led by quarterback Jameis Winston, who completed 17 of 28 passes for 159 yards and two touchdowns with an interception. The running backs enjoyed most of the success when the unit had the ball though. Running back James Wilder Jr. rushed the ball just six times, but turned those carries into 49 yards and a score, while fellow tailback Devonta Freeman ran for 11 yards and a score.

The offense’s numbers aren’t overly gaudy, unlike the final score, because it was the team’s defense was unreal. The unit chased Demon Deacons quarterback Trevor Price from the game early, with Price completing just one of his first four passes for just three yards and three interceptions.

In total, the Demon Deacons completed only seven of 25 passes for 63 yards with six interceptions. The Seminole defense forced seven turnovers in total, with Nate Andrews returning an interception 56 yards to the house, and Jalen Ramsey bringing a fumble back 23 yards for a score.

Syracuse beat Maryland in their last game, 20-3. The team’s defense led the way in that one, limiting the Terrapins to 292 yards of offense. The unit was very opportunistic, forcing four turnovers in the game. With that being said, the Orange had a very difficult time with discipline in the game, drawing 12 penalties for 115 yards, versus only two penalties for 10 yards for the Terrapins.

The Orange got their points on the back of a strong ground game which churned out 242 yards in the game, averaging 5.4 yards per tote. Running back Jerome Smith led the way with 118 yards on 28 carries, scoring twice, while quarterback Terrell Hunt rushed the ball seven times for 67 yards, completing 15 of his 24 passes for 140 yards and an interception.

The over has been a fantastic wager when Florida State takes the field this season. The team’s offense has lit opponents up this season, and should have plenty of success against an Orange team that hasn’t done a great job of keeping opponents from scoring this season. Expect a good Syracuse team to get some points of their own in a game that soars comfortably over the total.

The over is 8-1 in Florida State’s nine games this season.
