Nevertheless they got the victory and can move on to another struggling program at home in Southern Miss, who lost their opener as 7.5 point home favourites to Texas State.

Southern Miss
Southern Miss didn’t win a game last season and they are going to have to wait longer to break that streak as this week marks the first of 3 straight road games (Arkansas and Boise State to follow). It is amazing how far this program has fallen as just two seasons ago they won 12 games and were Conference USA champs and now they are losing at home to Texas State, which is barely an FBS program.

Last week they almost doubled TSU in yards but they coughed up the ball 5 times including 4 lost fumbles to literally give the Bobcats the victory. Southern Miss is super light on talent these days and that is going to show up big time over the next three weeks so don’t even consider backing them until they start their conference slate against Florida International. If then.
Nebraska
A Big Ten team should not give up that many yards to Wyoming…period – even if they are in catchup mode. I never believed Nebraska was a real contender in the conference but they are a quality team (ranked) and that is just embarrassing.
The only good thing that came out of last week’s victory is that they dominated the Cowboys on the ground with more than 300 yards rushing. QB Taylor Martinez completed a high percentage of passes but just didn’t do much with them throwing for only 155 yards.
If the Cornhuskers were playing almost any other opponent on Saturday this would probably be a big time fade situation but they are lucky to have put together back to back cupcakes before hosting UCLA next week. They have to get some sort of passing game going if they are going to beat the better teams in the B10.
Finding some defense would be a good idea too or else is it going to be another 9 wins regular season in Lincoln.
