The last time the Aztecs came to Las Cruces, they left with the victory, giving them a 1-1-1 record all-time at New Mexico State. San Diego State leads the overall series 8-1-1 and has a six game winning streak against the Aggies currently.

San Diego State

The Aztecs’ offense is less explosive than recent years, but has still managed to do some damage. Averaging about 350 yards per game, San Diego State has relied heavily on their passing game, which is led by two different quarterbacks.

Adam Dingwall is 27 of 68 on the season for 318 yards, 0 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Quinn Kaehler is a much more efficient 38 of 61 for 467 yards, 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

Colin Lockett has been the saving grace for his quarterbacks, catching 19 passes for 269 yards and 1 touchdown. He has 5 or more catches in each of his last 3 games. Behind him is Ezell Ruffin who has 12 catches for 198 yards and hasn’t reached the end zone yet.

In the backfield, Adam Muema has been the go to guy, carrying the ball 41 times for 93 yards and a score. Muema is slowly climbing the career running charts at San Diego State, reaching the top 10 in most categories. Chase Price has contributed in the run game as well, tallying 79 yards rushing on the season.

The Aztec defense has faced three extremely potent offenses this year, throwing them for a loop. After taking on Eastern Illinois, who is ranked as the top offense in the FCS, Ohio State AND Oregon State, the SDSU defense has taken its licks, but has held opponents below their averages despite giving up an average of just over 450 yards per game.. Nat Berhe is leading the team with 20 tackles and has 1 tackle for loss as well as 2 fumble recoveries. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

New Mexico State

The Aggies have struggled this season, starting 0-4 as their last year as an independent team. With an offense that produces almost 360 yards a game and gives up about 600 yards per game, the season has seemed futile so far.

At quarterback is Andrew McDonald, who has completed 61 of 88 passes for 584 yards, 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He also has 89 yards rushing on the year. Backing him up is King Davis III, who is 14 of 23 on the year with 210 yards and a touchdown.

Leading the team in rushing is Germi Morrison, who has 105 yards and 2 touchdowns. Three Aggie receivers have over 100 yards receiving and 2 more are within 10 yards of the threshold. Joshua Bowen is leading in receiving with 16 catches for 150 yards and a touchdown.

The defense has given up a lot of yards, but have still made some big plays. The defense has tallied 5 sacks, 18 tackles for loss, 6 interceptions and 3 fumble recoveries.

Betting Trends

• Aztecs are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game.
• Aztecs are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games.
• NMSU are 0-8 ATS in their last 8 games overall.

Prediction: San Diego State -17.5

Despite the big offenses and lack of defenses, San Diego State has put up better averages against better competition. The Aztecs will be too much for the Aggies in this one.
