The Red Wolves (7-5) arrive at Ladd-Peebles Stadium on Sunday, just one season after winning the Sun Belt championship, and making their second consecutive appearance in the GoDaddy bowl after beating Kent State, 17-13 last year. The win came just after losing their prior appearance to Northern Illinois in the 2012 edition.

This year, an Arkansas State offense that has put up 29.7 points during the regular season, has been fueled by quarterback Adam Kennedy, who will finish out his collegiate career with the hope of a sold bowl win.

The Utah State transfer completed nearly 70 percent of his passes for 2,349 yards and 11 touchdowns during the regular season, throwing only six picks, two of which came in the Red Wolves final six games of the 2013 campaign.

But Kennedy isn’t just a passing threat, he also gives the Red Wolves another option in the run game as well, rushing for 514 yards and four touchdowns for a running attack that is averaging more than 200 rushing yards per game.

Meanwhile, Ball State (10-2) will be expected to put up plenty of its own points behind and offense that is averaging 40.1 points per game.

That offense is led by quarterback Keith Wenning, who ranks fifth in the nation with 3,933 passing yards this season, most of which have been hauled in by a pair of 1,000-yard receivers in Willie Snead and Jordan Williams.

However, the Cardinals are not just winning games with their passing attack alone, they like the Red Wolves also have put together s formidable rushing attack, led by running back Jahwan Edwards, who is 36 yards from reaching 1,000 for the second straight season.

Edwards has 38 career rushing touchdowns entering Sunday’s contest, but is also a reliable receiver out of the backfield when needed. He is backed up by freshman Teddy Williamson, who totaled 80 yards and a touchdown in the regular-season finale against Miami (Ohio).

Matt’s Free Prediction

There will be a lot of points put up on the scoreboard in this contest as both offenses should bode well against a pair of defensive units that are mediocre at best.

However, the Cardinals have the slight advantage here with a bevy of ground weaponry that should take its toll on the Red Wolves in the end.

Ball State 42, Arkansas State 39
