The Ragin’ Cajuns held a seven point lead at halftime, but were outscored 17-7 in the final two quarters, giving the ball away three times to the Warhawks who led 471-394 in yardage.

Quarterback Terrance Broadway was picked off three times, producing a 13-of-27 effort for 178 yards and a TD before Brooks Haack came into to finish off the game with 126 yards and a touchdown in relief when Broadway after he broke his arm.

Elijah McGuire led the backfield with 119 rushing yards on 14 carries but the run wasn’t much of a threat late given the score.

Meanwhile South Alabama (5-6) will hope to finish the 2013 regular season with three successive wins to go 6-6 and become BCS Bowl eligible.

The Jaguars boasted their chances last week with a 38-17 victory in the road at Georgia State — a team that they  dominated from start to finish, rolling up an eye-popping up 522 offensive yards behind both a balances passing and running attack.

On the other side of the football, the Jags’ defense held GSU to 345 yards while recovering a fumble and picking off a pair of passes which led a big chunk of possession time, allowing them to control the clock.

Running back Jay Jones rushed for 102 yards on 17 carries with two TDs, while dual-treat quarterback Ross Metheny helped out with 50 yards.

Metheny was much more productive through the air, finishing the game out with 280 and a score with Shavarez Smith hauling in 10 receptions for 194 yards.

With Broadway the Ragin’ Cajuns would have likely won this one.

But without him, I expect the Jags recent surge to continue, eking out a win in this one.

South Alabama 28, ULL 24
