Florida snapped a four-game losing streak this past Saturday with a 26-21 victory over Vanderbilt as a 13.5-point home favorite. The win raised its overall record to 5-4 straight-up, but dropped it to 3-5-1 against the spread. The Gators are 3-4 SU in the conference and the total has gone ‘over’ in five of their nine games overall.

The Gators’ defense has been fairly solid this season; giving-up an average of just 19.7 points a game. The problem has been an ineffective offense that has had trouble moving the ball both through the air and on the ground. Florida is ranked 72nd in the country in scoring, with an average of 26 points a game.

South Carolina designs on winning the SEC East Division title took a hit with a 44-28 loss to Arkansas this past Saturday night as a five-point road underdog. It is now 7-2 SU overall (4-5 ATS) and a half-game behind Georgia in the division standings at 5-2 SU. An early season win over the Bulldogs looms big if the two teams should end up in a tie. The total went well ‘over’ the 51.5-point total in the loss to the Razorbacks, but it has stayed ‘under’ in five of its previous eight games. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Steve Spurrier’s bunch will rely on a stingy defense that is holding opponents to an average of 20.1 points a game to get by the Gators. Its once potent running game took a major hit with the loss of Marcus Lattimore for the season due to injury. The Gamecocks’ passing offense has been placed in the hands of Conner Shaw, who has thrown for just 710 yards and six touchdowns on the year.

The Gators are 0-5 ATS in their last five conference games and the total has gone ‘over’ in five of their last seven games against the SEC.
The Gamecocks are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games at home. The total has stayed ‘under’ in five of their last seven games overall.

Florida is 4-2 SU in the last six meetings, but South Carolina is 4-2 ATS including s 36-14 win last season as a 6.5 road underdog. Take the Gamecocks to make it two in-a-row with an easier than expected win at home.

The Pick: South Carolina 31 vs. Florida 20
