Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Ohio St. Buckeyes Gambling Prediction & Week 8 Preview

Iowa vs. Ohio State College Football Spread/Handicapping

Ohio State was one of the big beneficiaries of last week’s madness as they are now one of only 13 unbeaten teams across the nation. As the only remaining undefeated Big Ten team they have a great chance of running the table and getting back to the BCS provided they don’t get too far ahead of themselves.

Iowa has shown much better this year in terms of wins and losses but I don’t think they have the firepower to take down the Buckeyes this week. They have had 2 weeks to prepare though and some think their coach is pretty good.

Iowa

The Iowa Hawkeyes are looking better in 2013 but are still far from great. Only one of their wins is against a team with a winning record and the combined record of Western Michigan and Iowa State, two teams they beat is 1-11.

They have gotten better play at the quarterback position than they did last year but sophomore Jake Rudock has hardly been superb, throwing 2 interceptions in each of their two losses.

RB Mark Weisman has been productive but a lot of that has come against the weak competition alluded to earlier. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The Hawkeyes are into the more challenging part of their schedule and I see one win at most the rest of the way (and it is not on Saturday). Don’t be fooled by their defensive stats either. Other than the opener against Northern Illinois (30 points allowed) they have not played one good offensive team. They might get shredded at OSU.

Ohio State

QB Braxton Miller is a wonderful athlete but other than that I don’t like a lot about this Ohio State team. The best things they do are run the ball and defend the run but those factors are becoming less and less impactful as the game changes so even though they have been putting up gaudy numbers this team is likely to struggle against the elite of the SEC if they get the chance (again).

Against Iowa they should make a difference though because Iowa struggles to defend running games and their best offensive play is a handoff to Weisman.

The B10 is having another down year and Ohio State is going to be unchallenged for a while. As long as Miller stays within himself the Buckeyes should win easily at home.

They have had an extra week off to prepare too which is probably an advantage after some emotional games against Wisconsin and Northwestern.

They should win easily on Saturday.

Spread Pick: Ohio State -17
O/U Pick: Under
Score Prediction: Ohio State 35 – Iowa 13
