Since losing to Alabama there hasn’t been a ton of talk about Texas A&M or Johnny Football in the national media. The fact is that they are still gunning for a BCS bid as they take on this very mysterious Auburn team.

When former coordinator Gus Malzahn came back as head coach it was seen as a very positive move but is Auburn’s 5-1 record for real? Hard to tell as they haven’t won a game on the road all season and the only victory you might count as quality was over Ole Miss.

Do they really have a chance against the Aggies? Doubtful.
Auburn
Auburn may be 5-1 but they have been outgained in half of their contests this season, implying there might be a bit of luck going on there. They have definitely become a dangerous rushing team (7th in the nation), but the passing game has been only mediocre (which might be generous).
That combination is going to make it very difficult to keep touch with the Aggies and Auburn is going to have to do that or else they risk getting run right out of Texas.
On defense they have been giving up a lot of yards but not too many points overall. That is encouraging because if they can stiffen when they need to they just might be able to keep this one close.
We will have a clearer read on the Tigers after this one as they lost to the only other elite team they have played this year rather easily – LSU. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
Texas A&M
As long as they keep winning the Aggies can have another really successful season despite that the fact they lost at home to Alabama.
Texas A&M is always an exciting team to watch because you just don’t know how Johnny Football is going to get it done. Is he going to run around like they are on the playground or is he going to sit back and pick the defense apart – it is usually a bit of both.
The Aggies also make it exciting when they don’t have the ball too giving up more than 30ppg and tons of yards, hardly the mark of an elite team.
With the way that Auburn runs the ball and the fact that the Aggies are 105th in the nation in rush defense this one could be pretty entertaining.
Odds are the Aggies will come up with one stretch of back to back stops and that might be the ball game. Maybe not though.
The Tigers have a chance I suppose.
