Ole Miss Rebels vs. Texas Longhorns Gambling Prediction & Week 3 Preview

Ole Miss vs Texas NCAA Football Spread/Handicapping

After last week’s poor showing against BYU there is a lot of grumbling in Austin right now. Texas has once again failed to live up to expectations and the faithful are tired of it and needed someone’s head to roll (defensive coordinator Manny Diaz).

This could mean that the Ole Miss Rebels are walking into a hornet’s nest or it could mean that they are getting Texas at just the right moment.

Ole Miss also had expectations to build upon last year.

They barely escaped their win against Vanderbilt but if they can win this one the rest of the SEC will have to take notice. Lots of interesting plots for these two teams who met last year, a slaughter of a win by Texas.

Ole Miss

Expectations are growing at Ole Miss. I don’t think anyone thinks the Rebels are ready to beat Alabama but a win against Texas is a possibility.

To get that win on the road they are going to need quarterback Bo Wallace to have a good game. Last year he threw three picks in this game contributing to the 66 points that Texas scored.

The Longhorns defense looked soft against BYU last week which is why they turfed their defensive coordinator during the week. Ole Miss’ defense is probably underrated and this is the time to show it, Texas QB David Ash shredded them but it has been proven that he can be forced into mistakes. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The Longhorns are ripe for the upset but Ole Miss is going to have to win it.

Texas

The Longhorns should be disappointed with their loss to BYU but lets not give BYU at least some of the credit for taking it to them and maybe identifying how to attack Texas for all those teams in the B12. It is never a good sign to fire a coordinator in the middle of the season but something had to be done.

Against Ole Miss the Longhorns could win by outscoring the Rebels the old fashioned way – running it down their throat. They have an experienced line and one of the deepest stable of running backs in the nation, all of them 5 star recruits I think.

That would be my preference as I have never been a fan of QB David Ash. Leading up to this one I was thinking that Ole Miss was the play but when the number dropped to only 3 points I just have a hard time making the Rebels the play.

The Longhorns should have enough self respect not to put up another ugly one in front of their home fans in prime time. Or else who would they fire next week.

Spread Pick: Texas -3
O/U Pick: Under
Score Prediction: Texas 31 – Ole Miss 24
