Last year they had little trouble with Kentucky in their first go through the SEC and that should be the case again this year though this time they are visiting Lexington this time.

QB James Franklin is still questionable for this one but they should be able to beat the Wildcats without him – they bounced back nicely last week.

Missouri

Mizzou rebounded well against Tennessee last week after their disappointing loss to South Carolina – a sign of being a very good team like their record this season indicates. It looks like it will be Maty Mauk again under center and he has been good enough since being forced into the fray.

With Mauk running the show they are asking the quarterback position to do a little less which is fine because this team has a strong running game led by senior RB Henry Josey. The reality is it is more of a committee approach in the backfield with three backs averaging more than 5.5 yards per carry. That running game and one of the more underrated defenses in the country is what has brought Missouri this far.

They have one more significant challenge against A&M in the final game of the season but it looks like this team is going to the SEC Championship in year 2.

They need to play it through though because they have a thin margin for error.

Kentucky

Making headway in the SEC is very tough so despite what might be some general improvements to the Kentucky program this season they are still struggling in terms of wins and losses.

The simple fact is that this program is not good enough on either side of the ball right now to compete and this week is likely to be another example.

One thing they do have going for them is that they are playing 2 quarterbacks, both sophomores, who have promise and seem to have mastered the art of not turning it over – just two interceptions combined. Maxwell Smith is the bigger pocket guy while Jalen Whitlow is more elusive, leading the team with 5 TD runs this season.

For Kentucky to have a chance on Saturday they need to be able to put some points on the board. In games against other top teams like Louisville, Alabama and Florida they haven’t topped 13, but when they scored 28 against South Carolina they nearly beat them.

In that game Whitlow was very good. He can be a difference maker with his legs.

Spread Pick: Missouri -14
O/U Pick: Under
Score Prediction: Missouri 34 – Kentucky 13
