Louisville Cardinals vs. UConn Huskies Gambling Prediction & Week 11 Preview

Louisville vs UConn College Football Spread/Handicapping

Louisville has fallen pretty far off the national radar since losing to UCF a few weeks back. This week they travel to a winless UConn team – yes I was surprised by that too as this is usually a middle of the pack program.

Louisville still has its sights on a BCS bid and can not afford any slipups over the final month of the season.

For the Huskies, they are past the point of trying to salvage their season but beating the best team on their schedule would show this program still have some merit.

Louisville

The Cardinals are among the many examples every season of how cruel college football can be – one loss and you are kind of persona non grata for the rest of the year.

Even though their championship aspirations seem to have been exhausted they can still be excited about having one of top players in America, and a Heisman candidate, in QB Teddy Bridgewater.

You can not pin the loss to UCF on him either, as all he did was be his usually super efficient self with 341 yards, no picks, 2 TDs and a 70% completion percentage. He is a treat to watch as maybe no QB in the country seems less in a hurry to make things happen.

As long as Bridgewater continues to perform as he has Louisville should win the remainder of their games, though I like the challenge Houston’s offense might put up next week.

The defense let them down against UCF and the Cougars will certainly challenge that.

Connecticut

The Huskies are bad this year but they are not usually this bad. They have had a couple of close calls with 3 point losses to Michigan and South Florida but they just haven’t been able to close games out. Looking at their schedule they may have to wait until the last game of the year against Memphis to avoid the wrong side of perfection in 2013.

There is no secret to why they keep losing as this team is among the worst program in the nation, both offensively and defensively.

The defense is a bit surprising as they have generally been pretty solid in that area.

On offense, in the passing era you are pretty much screwed if you don’t have a quarterback of the right calibre. They are trying to make do rather than go with a system less conventional (like the triple option). It is not working and the bulk of their yards are coming as a result of playing catchup.

That should certainly be the case again on Friday night.

There is not a grand upset waiting to happen in Storrs.

Spread Pick: Connecticut +28
O/U Pick: Under
