Tennessee Volunteers vs. Missouri Tigers Gambling Prediction & Week 10 Preview

Tennessee vs Mizzou College Football Spread/Handicapping

Mizzou lost a tough one last week to South Carolina, in overtimes, and saw their chances for that truly fantastic season kind of disappear. However, they still have a chance for a much better than anyone expected season if they can recover quickly and take care of business.

They are still in the drivers seat in the SEC East and Tennessee is coming to town looking to prove their own win against the Gamecocks wasn’t a fluke. The Tigers need to be ready for them or they could fall too.

If they can make it to the SEC Championship game anything could happen.

Tennessee

The Vols shocked those who follow the SEC closely with their win over South Carolina a few weeks back. It looks like new coach Butch Jones has the team pointed in the right direction and they might even qualify for a bowl game this season with Vanderbilt and Kentucky on the schedule the final two weeks.

This is a run first team, so much so that they are actually rushing for more yards per game than they are passing which is kind of depressing because they are not “that” good at rushing the ball (No Navy).

This is just another SEC program where the quarterback play has been dismal.

Starting QB Justin Worley has mediocre stats across the board even though one of his top receivers is “Pig” Howard, who oddly is a sprite (I just had to throw it in there he isn’t really anything special, just amusing).

They have two really good backs in Raijon Neal and Marlin Lane Jr. but running at the Mizzou defense is going to be a difficult task. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Missouri

The Tigers will be missing starting QB James Franklin again on Saturday. It is a big loss but backup Maty Mauk has performed fairly admirably filling in and will no doubt be happy to get a bit of a breather from the pressure of the South Carolina defense.

Mizzou runs one of the most balanced attacks in the nation running for 220ypg while throwing for about 275ypg.

That approach means that Mauk won’t be asked to win the game for the Tigers, just let the other players, especially the defense do their jobs and manage the game.

On defense the Tigers are very good, especially up front where DE Michael Sam is tied for the national lead with 10 sacks. They are 9th in the nation in sacks and 3rd in interceptions so this defense can make things tough for opposing offenses, especially quarterbacks, often forcing mistakes.

Tennessee wants to run the ball but eventually they will have to throw and the Tigers will pounce.

Spread Pick: Missouri -11
O/U Pick: Under
Score Prediction: Missouri 31 – Tennessee 17
