Oklahoma was rolling along until their hiccup against Texas, and they’ll quickly get a chance to get back into the win column with a cupcake matchup against Kansas.

Oklahoma’s 36-20 loss to Texas was their first of the season, and snapped a three-game winning streak against Texas.

After bursting onto the scene and grabbing a stranglehold on the starting quarterback job, Blake Bell took a big step backward against Texas, completing just 12 of 26 passes for 133 yards, and throwing his first two interceptions of the season. He was also sacked four times in the game. A year after rushing for four touchdowns against Texas, Bell had minus-27 yards on seven carries.

The Sooners were susceptible to the big play against the Longhorns, with Texas scoring on pass plays of 59 and 38 yards, and an 85-yard punt return. The Longhorns were also able to control the clock in the game by pounding the rock, rushing the ball 60 times, and having two rushers eclipse the 100-yard mark.

The unit will have trouble covering up that blemish as they’ll be without starting nose tackle Jordan Phillips, who will miss the game with a back injury, and senior linebacker Corey Nelson, who underwent season-ending surgery on a torn pectoral muscle. Neither player suited up against Texas. The defense did come up with a big play in that Texas game though, as defensive lineman Geneo Grissom returned Texas quarterback Case McCoy’s only interception of the game 54 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Kansas put forth a better effort against TCU than they did the week before in a 54-16 loss to Texas Tech, falling to the Horned Frogs, 27-17. The team forced TCU into five turnovers, putting up all three of their scores in the game off of turnovers, but the offense couldn’t get much else done, racking up just 198 yards in the game. Running back James Sims did the majority of the heavy lifting for the offense, putting up 121 of those yards, 81 of which came on the ground, and the other 40 came on five receptions.

Coming off a disappointing loss, Oklahoma will look to take some of their frustrations out on Kansas. With Oklahoma having won last season’s meeting 52-7, don’t expect Kansas to put up much of a fight. The Jayhawks are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games.

The Sooners are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings between these teams.

The play: Oklahoma -23
