The Syracuse Orange travel south to Morgantown to take on the No. 20 West Virginia Mountaineers in a Big East matchup this upcoming Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN 2.

Syracuse had won three games in a row until it ran into Pitt last Saturday and ended up on the wrong end of a 45-14 drubbing that dropped the Orange to 4-2 overall on the season and 1-1 in the Big East. They failed to cover as a 2 ½ point home underdog and the total went way ‘over’ the 45 ½ point line.

The Orange defense has been fairly stingy this year as it is ranked 33rd in the nation in points allowed. The problem at times has been an offense that is ranked 65th in average rushing yards per game and 68th in average passing yards. QB Ryan Nassib is only completing 56.6 percent of his passes and has thrown for 1220 yards on the year. RB Delone Carter leads the team in rushing with 562 yards on 112 carries. Antwon Bailey has helped carry the load with 40 carries for 220 yards. NFL Betting

West Virginia is currently the pride of the Big East as the only nationally ranked team in the conference. The Mountaineers are coming off a solid 20-6 win over South Florida that ran their record to 5-1 for the year. They covered against the Bulls as a 10-point home favorite and the total stayed well ‘under’ the 46 point line.

QB Geno Smith has been behind center for the majority of the snaps this season for West Virginia. He has completed 121-of- 177 attempts for 1358 yards. More impressive is the fact that he has thrown 14 TD’s passes against just two interceptions. He has a pair of quality receivers in Tavon Austin and Jock Sanders. These two have combined for 68 receptions for 730 yards and four TD’s. RB Noel Devine leads the running game with 504 yards on 103 carries. He also leads the team in touchdowns with five.

Syracuse is 5-3 straight-up and against the spread in its last eight games. The Orange are 2-4 SU in their last six games on the road and 3-3 ATS. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of their last 10 games overall.

West Virginia is 7-2 SU in its last nine games and 6-3 ATS. The Mountaineers are 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS in their last six home games. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of their last 10 games overall.

Head-to-head, West Virginia has won the last eight games SU and is 6-2 ATS. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of the last nine games between these two teams. Syracuse is a much better team than last season’s that only managed to win four games, but they are still not competitive enough against the better teams in the conference. Unfortunately, It looks like another long day for the Orange in this one.
