The Pittsburgh Panthers take on the Syracuse Orange in a Big East matchup this upcoming Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.com.

Pittsburgh finally begins its 2010 Big East schedule after opening the season 2-3 straight-up and 1-2-2 against the spread in non-conference play. Losses to Utah 27-24 as a three-point road underdog, Miami 31-3 as a four-point home underdog, and to Notre Dame 23-17 as a six-point road underdog have left the Panthers weary and bruised as well as looking forward to playing a conference schedule against a number of teams it should be favored to beat.

The Panthers rushing game as been their primary strength so far; averaging 157.8 yards per game. RB Ray Graham has led the way with 536 yards on 60 carries for an average of 8.9 yards per carry. He also leads the team in touchdowns with five. QB Tino Sunseri is completing 67.4 percent of his passes but he only has five TD throws against three interceptions. NFL Betting

Syracuse has already matched its win total from last season with victories in four of its first five games. The Orange is coming off a hard-fought 13-9 win over South Florida in its Big East opener as an eight-point road underdog. The victory raised their record to 4-1 both SU and ATS. Their only loss of the season was to Washington 41-20, where they failed to cover as a 13 ½ point road underdog.

The Orange are averaging 163.8 yards per game on the ground and 206 yards through the air. RB Delone Carter leads the team with 99 carries for 524 yards and five TD’s. WR Van Chew is the team’s leading receiver with 23 catches for 402 yards and two TD’s. QB Ryan Nassib has completed 73-of-127 attempts for 989 yards and 10 TD’s.

Pitt is 5-5 SU in its last 10 games and 4-4-2 ATS. The Panthers are 0-3 SU and 1-0-2 in their last three games on the road. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of their last 10 games overall.

Syracuse is 5-2 both SU and ATS in its last seven games. The Orange are 3-1 SU and ATS in their last four home games. The total has stayed ‘under’ in seven of their last 10 games overall.

Head-to-head, Pitt has won seven of the last 10 games SU; including wins in the last five games. The Panthers are 3-2 ATS in these five games and the average margin of victory has been 13.4 points. This is not one of the better Panthers teams in recent years, but they are good enough to get a much needed win and cover the points in this game.
