Ohio State
The Ohio State Buckeyes took over the top spot in the polls this week after Alabama lost last weekend. The Buckeyes understand that the #1 ranking means nothing right now, and they also know that they’ll face their toughest test of the season in Madison this Saturday evening.
The Buckeyes offense has played well this season, but they do still have some room for improvement. Terrelle Pryor has certainly improved as a passer and his decision making seems much better than it did a year ago. Pryor has 15 touchdown passes and just three interceptions this year. The running game has been a little inconsistent for Ohio State this year. Boom Herron is the primary runner, but there have been numerous occasions this year where this team hasn’t been able to run the ball very well. Pryor is expected to be completely healthy, which is crucial for this Buckeye offense. Pryor is the best running threat on the team and his athleticism is very tough to defend.
The Ohio State defense is solid once again this year. It seems that the Buckeyes always have a high quality group on defense, and this year is no different. Cameron Heyward is the biggest star on the defense, but overall this is a very smart and talented defense. Ohio State is third in the nation in total defense, and they are allowing just 13.5 points per game.
The defensive line will face their toughest test yet in the form of the Badgers power running game. 
Wisconsin
The Badgers fell at Michigan State a couple weeks ago, but they still have very high goals for their season. This is a team that is extremely dangerous because of their balance on offense and their veteran presence all over the field.
Wisconsin is led by quarterback Scott Tolzien. Tolzien is a very efficient passer who makes solid decisions with the football. On the year he has thrown 7 touchdowns and just two interceptions. Tolzien has completed 70% of his passes this season. Lance Kendricks is a game changer at the tight end spot, and they must keep getting him the football. In the backfield Wisconsin has one of the best tailback tandems in the country. John Clay is the power running back and James White is the man who can take it to the end zone every time he touches it. Clay is averaging 6.0 yards per carry, and White is averaging 7.7 yards per carry. The Badgers offensive line is probably the best in the Big Ten. This is a very good offensive unit.
The Badgers defense was stung quite a bit by the injury of Chris Borland. Borland is out for the year, and he was their team leader on defense. The secondary has struggled a bit against teams who can throw the ball well. The rushing defense is ranked 23rd in the nation, and this unit does a nice job getting off the field on third down. Can this defense keep Terrelle Pryor in the pocket? That will probably be the key to this game.
The Pick:
Madison is an extremely difficult place to play, and I fully expect Wisconsin to give great effort in this one. Wisconsin will probably be able to move the football some on Ohio State, but they must score touchdowns if they are going to win this game. In the end, I think Ohio State’s athleticism and superior defense will win this game for them. I think Ohio State -3.5 is the play.
