Indiana

The Hoosiers had a good chance to make a splash by beating Michigan in their Big Ten opener last weekend, but they fell just a little short. Indiana is still looking for that signature win in conference play.

The Indiana offense is very good this year. Ben Chappell is doing a masterful job at the quarterback spot. Chappell has completed 72% of his passes and thrown 12 touchdowns and just one interception all year. This is the number one passing attack in the Big Ten. Tandon Doss is an amazing play maker, both in special teams and at the wide receiver position. Doss had 15 catches for 221 yards last week against Michigan. DeMarlo Belcher and Terrance Turner are also quality receivers, so this team is loaded on the outside. The running game has struggled, and they really need just a little more balance against a defense like Ohio State.

The Hoosiers defense was torched by Denard Robinson and Michigan last weekend. Michigan ran for 297 yards and had 574 yards of total offense. The Indiana defense is allowing 207 yards per game on the ground so far this year.

You know the Buckeyes will try to run it consistently this week, so Indiana must do a better job this Saturday or it will be a long day in Columbus.

Ohio State

The Buckeyes survived a scare from Illinois in their Big Ten opener. Ohio State won the game 24-13, but it was close throughout, and Terrelle Pryor went down with a quad injury in the third quarter. Pryor is expected to play Saturday, and Ohio State knows they absolutely need him healthy the rest of the year.

The Ohio State offense has been great this year, although they did struggle most of the game against Illinois. Ohio State is averaging 235 yards on the ground per game. The Buckeyes have three primary runners on their team, with Pryor serving as the leading rusher. Boom Herron and Brandon Saine are a nice tailback tandem as well. On the outside the Buckeyes have a play maker in Devier Posey and a reliable chain mover in Dane Sanzenbacher. The offensive line struggled last week, and they must improve if this team is going to run the table the rest of the year. This unit has the potential to be extremely good, but they aren’t quite there yet.

The Buckeyes defense is solid once again this year. Ohio State ranks fourth in the nation in total defense. They are allowing just 14 points per game so far this season. Ross Homan is the leading tackler and Cameron Heyward is the imposing force on the defensive line. Injuries are hitting this defense hard, but they do have some impressive depth. The secondary has yet to be tested too much this year, but they’ll face a good passing attack in this one. The Buckeyes know the pass is coming, so expect them to get after the quarterback this weekend as well.

The Pick:

The Buckeyes are going to want to run the ball early and often in this one, especially if Pryor isn’t completely healthy. The under is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings between these two and I think it is the best play this Saturday.

Indiana vs. Ohio State Score Prediction: Ohio State 35 Indiana 14
